Johnston Canyon Resort Description
As breath-taking as Banff pictures may be, they can never capture the immense vastness, power and serenity one experiences in standing in or driving through its midst. On your journey to Johnston Canyon Resort Banff cabins, your travels along the Bow Valley Parkway will uncover the stunning wonders of nature and, if you are lucky, perhaps several species of Banff wildlife. Whether it is your first time or fiftieth in the Canadian Rockies, you will be impressed by the grandeur and the sanctity of the area. It is not difficult to understand how early pioneers were determined to create legacies and means by which to share the glory…

Worth a visit early morning as it gets busy as the day goes on. We were on an organised trip to the canyon with Discover Banff tours. We were picked up at our hotel at 8.15 am by our driver, Neil, who was also our brilliant guide. The journey took about 20 minutes. While en-route, Neil fed us a lot of interesting information about the canyon and local area. The walk through the canyon takes about 2 hours, which ended with hot chocolate and cookies. We were then dropped back to our hotel for 12 midday. The tour gives plenty photo opportunities to capture the “blue ice” formations and views of the canyon. It was a beautiful winter wonderland day for our visit.
We had an amazing time and wonderful experience at the resort!! The cabins are adorable and so clean. Excellent service response to our requests. Loved the proximity to both Banff and Lake Louise, halfway between the two, as well as hiking the falls right on the grounds! Just a fantastic experience all around! Will definitely stay again in the future!
We had a great time at our cabin! So cute!! service was great! Came as soon as we called or helped us with information on attractions that were around us!
We didn't stay at the Resort but we did stop to visit the Canyon. I was disappointed that two ladies had 3 large dogs that were not very well behaved. The were a bit intimidating, so we did not proceed on the falls. There was a a sign alerting visitors that said that dogs can provoke Bears
Very beautiful place to visit. Nice view and hiking trails. Love the waterfall, both lower and upper. Huge area for parking. Would love to go there again.
Used to live out there thirty years ago. Johnston Canyon will always have a special place in my heart. A piece of heaven here on earth.
The scenery is always well worth it awesome place to go visit
The cabins were very clean and really nice. Do take bug spray though. The trails to the falls were beautiful, there were a lot of people there but we still fully enjoyed it. I would stay there again!
Our family spent a week here and found it to be the perfect vacation location. This is a very special placr I hope to return to many times in my life. The scenery, fantastic food and terrific service makes this a good value also.
Our family had 4 wonderful nights at this beautiful resort. Talk about relaxing! It was great for the whole family to get back to basics and enjoy life. Its' definitely worth a trip back again and again!
Loved this beautiful gem! Hike was awesome my 6 yrolds made it to the top! Great family hiking day!
It was amazing, I hope come back next year, congratulation to all the staff and thanks for your attention, people are so kind.
I recommend this if you love hiking and this will help persons with developmental disabilities get way more excerise in walking.
Had an awesome time @ Johnston Canyon Resort. The cabins were unbelievable was like you were in your own little world. Very peaceful and tranquil. We will be booking for next year. Thanks so much
Great hiking area and great resort to stay at.
We stayed here for 2 nights, the cabin was great, nothing spectacular but very cozy. Will definitely consider coming back for another visit. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly as was the office staff.
Second time this year. 1st was in June and the water was higher and less traffic. 2nd was yesterday and it was crazy busy, (even though it was a Wednesday). Park staff has opportunity in timing of bathroom cleaning. They cleaned BOTH men's and women's washrooms at the same time and left us all 30-40 ppl on each side to the single stall bathrooms. During peak season you can't do that for 20 minutes!
The hike is really easy to upper falls with kids, only adult to Ink Pots.
We opted for no service to our room. We couldn't get clean towels or toilet paper. The biggest problem was, there was no management around to help us. Very disappointed. The cabin was great. The restaurant was great. Room service was terrible.
Not impressed with the price for what we received . Obviously the nature is beautiful but can view without renting cabins.
Our cabin faced the road which vehicles drove by all night constantly waking us .
We had to rent a VHS to watch and the lady in the gift shop was not welcoming . Will not return as we could have spent less money on a hotel / motel in Banff for a way better stay .
