I usually have a lot of fun, but this year I took my nephew who’s three. He hated the arm band and kept ripping it off. I spent well over $100 just so I could go on rides with him and then y’all start telling me he can’t get on the ride because he ripped his bracelet when I have one perfectly intact on my arm. Like are you kidding me. Even Calgary stampede lets people in for free after the parade and when we asked if kdays does the same they laughed in our face and said well this isn’t Calgary. I’m very disappointed with kdays, I even tried to talk to people about it and they were all very dismissive. I used to work kdays. I used to go every year. I think I’ll just spend my money at the Calgary Stanpede next year until you guys can’t find a better way to let kids on rides. And maybe don’t charge parents 50 bucks just to ride some kiddy rides with their child.

User

3 amazing shows SO far Billy Talent Beach Boys and Ice Cube . I think only thing I change next year 2 things people who buy vip tickets have à both set up for them to show people where to go. Also maybe if you bring someone like Ice Cube make beer gradens 18 only other then that bien amazing. Where Sunday love seeing Grand parents dance with there grand childern.

On your website you advertise that there is no re entry after midnight.I was trying to get it at 11:34pm at the Northlands entrance and they wouldn’t let me in.I had a stamp but they argued saying no re entry I asked before leaving to the casino if I can get back in they said yes just be back before midnight. They lied to me and I don’t appreciate that.Change your site if your going to pull that.I had to walk all the way around missing my bus then I had to wait 30 mins for the next one.

I witnessed a family of three (not mine) walk up to the Thrill Masters trampoline booth at K-Days. They paid their $12 for their little girl to jump. The little girl, who looked about 3 years old, was then let into the area to be weighed. She weighed 20lbs (which is 10 lbs under their "minimum weight" according to the sign). The little girl when shown the harness got scared and didn't want to go, she didn't even have a singe buckle fastended. The Thrill Masters rep said the company policy is No Refunds. In other words, they litterally stole $12 from a 3 year old, apparently it is company policy despite not having any such policy stated anywhere on the booth. When I mentioned the girl was under the posted weight limit and didn't get weighed until after payment, they said that weight limit doesn't matter, no refunds.

If Kdays is family friendly stop enabling vendors like this.

User

I had a good time, but it's pretty same-y, year after year. I miss the days when they had a special "Cultural Celebration" section, like one featuring Nordic cultures one year, and Caribbean cultures another year. It helped shake things up and make things look a little different.

The only things that weren't really "same-y" were actually the MISSING things. No stunt trampolines, a smaller "Kids Town", the video gaming section now only had four machines with only a few games each), no butterfly tent, etc. A few booths appear to be gone as well. So it's the same, but LESS, because they've removed things.

Putting the Pow-Wow in the Halls was a bad idea- it's a great space and very big, but that festival is LOUD and was unfair to the people working on either side of it (those poor animals! Did nobody anticipate that?)- the one stage was literally empty all day long both days I went because they couldn't have been heard. It looked silly and was a total waste of space. In the future, the Pow-Wow should definitely either be outside, or in one of the larger halls that are separated from the other ones (wasn't it in the area with stadium-style seating last year?).

The farming-themed thing and the horses was fun and cool, though.

It's unfortunate, but K-Days is looking both a bit tired AND a bit diminished, which is not a good look. The attractions never change, and they've actually started taking fun things away.

What get me in every year would be the concerts and this year was no different, went to see the Beach Boys. But what is different this year is the premium package. I refuse to pay extra to see something that used to be included in the cost of admission and it was a great concert but we could not see anything at all from the beer gardens and the screens were not high enough to show a lot and it was more of videos than of the concert. Plus the wafting sewer smell was not pleasant at all. Fireworks were great though. Trick riding was fun to watch but short in the afternoon. If premium tickets remain in effect next year will not attend next year.

User

Sorry guys but i doubt we will be coming back next year. Gate entry is just to much compared to what there is to offer inside. The farm display was the only thing I really enjoyed tbh. The two other halls didnt seem to have anything going on at all really, i think one was a kid area and then other was some sort of craft/Art sale vibe going on. It was neat with the dark lighting and swings hanging from the roof but what happened to all the interactive stuff that has been there year after year? We thought it would be packed for a sunday but it was unusually quiet. I Get the feeling that alot of people are just not excited about it anymore. They have the same dog show water jump thing that has been there for the last ten years along with a light show that was cancelled because they didn't show up... so all that is really left is the magician show thats also been there for years and the rodeo that costs an extra 20$ per ticket. The food hall is usually packed with vendors however this year seemed to have half with options to select from. We were disappointed the perogie booth we gone and it was replaced with a bar in each corner, I get the feeling they just needed to fill the empty space with something. Dont get me wrong who doesnt love a good bar but isnt that what the beer gardens are usually for outside ?. Then there was the vendor hall that is there every year selling the same stuff. We like to go in and walk around but in all seriousness i feel like something big is missing and if Kdays doesnt make some changes soon it will be nothing but downhill from here. We didnt go on any rides but we did walk around and check it out and they did seem to have a few of the same rides scattered around, nothing to special for the 50$ it cost for a wrist band.

User

Im kinda really disappointed in some of the ride attendants there. I went with my 2 sisters and a friend yesterday and we decided to buy the express line passes to skip the line for rides. we were in the line for the fireball and this guy & girl were infront of us and they only had the ride all day passes on and once it was our turn the ride attendant just let them through no problem. It makes me mad that we pay the extra 25 so we dont have to wait in long line ups. thank you to the attendants who checked everyones wristbands and gave a shit!

User

I was pretty disappointed with the cost of K-Days. First, it was $20 to park, then it was $70+ just to get in the gate (no family passes available), then for three kids it was $153 for arm bands to ride, and finally the cost of food and water was over the top.

I don't understand the cost of the gate. There were no decent teenage performances or venues during Friday. $70+ for three teens/tweens and one adult is ridiculous...just for the privilege of paying even more to do what we came to do (i.e. rides)

Also, the cost of food and drinks was insane. I find it so terribly sad that we live in a world that charges more for water than sugared drinks and even sadder that there were no water fountains available for refills.

We won't be returning to K-Days. I felt like I was being taken complete advantage of. Shame on you Northlands for such blatant ripping off of Edmonton locals and tourists.

User

First of all we are NOT at the Calgary Stampede ! What’s with the carnies wearing white cowboy hats and red shirts? The label on the hat was clearly covered up with a k days sticker! Calgary probably dressed them and they wore them here too. No free day “like Calgary?” All the kids games are a total rip off for the little ones. For a five dollar bill go down to the adult area you at least get a toy bigger than your hand for the same money. Won’t be going back, was a total disappointment.

User

Will not be back! Seems to be a double standard after 8pm. My granddaughter is exactly 48” tall. We were there all day going on the rides that said 48” and up with no issue. 8pm came and suddenly the rides she was on all day they were saying she was only 47”tall and couldn’t go on them. I’m not sure how she shrunk an inch but that is what they said. Not only that but the rides are a joke and the grounds are half what they used to be. There used to be music and entertainment along the midway but it seems now they have only 2 stages and one doesn’t even get used until after 6pm (TD). The other is Tim Hortons which is hypnotists and kids shows. What has happened to this event???!!! It is a giant food vendor with some small rides in it for entertainment. Even the shopping experience is down to 1 hall and the food (which is two halls) had very few vendors. Even the midway at 8pm on a Thursday evening was extremely quiet which goes to show how poor k-days is performing.

User

Whoever thought of this BS premium party cash grab - maybe don’t switch up the concert setup if you have no idea how to run it when the event actually happens. Thankfully Billy Talent pulled off an awesome set after K-days’ lack of preparation set the show an hour late.

User

This year was a pure joke! Went to see ice cube last night. We get there and people start rushing the fence to get into the beer gardens. It seems like there was major lack of security and the security you had definitely weren’t capable of watching to make sure people didn’t get in. So you guys shut the beer gardens. Ok makes sense. So now we go into the premium ticket area which ok another beer tent. Perfect! We’ll get to it and stand In line only to find out you guys closed it down too. And what does the security guy tell me. We shut it all down. No pop, no water, no beer, no merch. We’re punishing all of you. Like what the fuck!!! We pay money to see this and you guys can’t properly watch over the beer gardens. What a joke!!

User

My daughter and I go every year. We don't do the rides anymore, but still like the shopping experience and just walking around the grounds. This year was very disappointing. The Grand Shopping in the Expo Center was terrible (a lot of vendors missing) as was the food court. We are usually at the grounds from 2 pm until the fireworks are done. This year we arrived at 1:30, gone by 4:30. Not worth our time or money. I've never been to the Stampede, but from what I've heard and read, it looks and sounds a lot better than what we have here.

Long time K-Days supporter haven’t missed going in 20 Years. Unfortunately this will be my last year unless major changes are made! Here’s a list of issues:

1) PRICE!! My family of four with two kids under 3 cost 40$ to get in 20$ to park. 50$ for 55 tickets average ride cost 5 tickets since I have toddlers we had to ride with them which meant the Ferris wheel and all average rides at 5 tickets cost a family of four close to 20$ a ride!!!!!!????? Tack in over priced food and drinks etc etc.. total price for the day 220$ dollars for 3.5 hours

2) K-Days this year seemed scaled down and underwhelming with really no interesting changes same old same old!

3) Beat up hmmm better word ghetto rides looking old and well generally unsafe

4) The Kids Zone in the conference area was a fifth of the size of last year and was terrible. A sandbox, junky inflatable castle and three stores. I couldn’t believe how K-Days scaled this down to nothing which was a huge disappointment.

The one bright point of the day was the pow wow dancers!! K-Days you’ve been an Edmonton Summer attraction for many years time to take some notes from the stampede and figure out how to keep people coming back. Otherwise much like the Edmonton Indy you’ll suffer the same fate.

“Ringing a bell... Shame, Shame, Shame K-Days”

K-days 2018 Epic fail

1) Way smaller than in the past. Less Food outlets, couldn't find a BBQ Turkey Leg anywhere, Limited real lemonade stands NO big semi Rib truck.

2) Expensive - $20.00 entrance/per person for family of 4 with teens...$51.00/ each for all day ride pass at the gate. Then you get inside. Balloon Walk +12.00 for 5 - 7 minutes. Rock climb - 1 climb $8.00 and up. Slingshot $40.00 (No refund for change of heart or any other reason) AKA -- Money Grab, Gambling $5.00 for almost every game you play. Why do you have to pay extra for the better entertainment.

3) No theme..We used to have Australian theme(s) and vendors etc. The halls had same old retailers (pots, pan and mops) with nothing I wanted to buy. N

No motor cross/daredevil bikes to watch.

Old rides - Velocity which smelled like diesel fumes the whole ride.

If K-days wants to exist it'll take a lot of improvement. Otherwise it will go the way of the coliseum and be non existent. I'd sooner send my kids to Callaway park for more fun than K-days.

Won't be going back next at this money grabbing cost.

The only good thing is the advanced all day ride pass which includes admission $47 at Save-on Foods. (which we bought before) Otherwise, based on what I experienced I would really question WHY this event even goes on.

User

I bought Premium party access passes for Ice Cube last night, terrible experience! When we first got there, we could not find the way to get in. We asked mutiple people who were wearing the “Northlands” shirts and they all told us they didn’t know and just to push through the crowd. When we finally find the premium party side we had to wait on the side for people to leave because they were over maximum compacity?! Meanwhile security is letting in people who don’t have premium party tickets. After we finally make our way in, we go to the bar AND the bar was already shut down (private bars were the reason we bought tickets). Honestly could have bought general admission and had the same experience! Premium party is a NO from me.

User

First experience for many years I was disappointed the how charges were 20 dollars just to get in pluse 20 dollars parking ok next year will be worse cause won’t be casino there to people take breaks from hot days there was not enjoyable this year for sure everything was pricey and was not organized as before was mass I didn’t liked probably next year no casino I won’t go at all thank you

User

Event has went completely downhill. Again. The shops were nice in the old days when indie marketers from edmonton could join. Now it’s all ‘as seen on tv’ harassers. I don’t walk in there anymore. The kids area was a joke this year. Last year they tried with a zip line. Those inflatable balls you still into a run a course, etc. This year was a stage, a sandbox, some bubbles and 3 of those little buildings with crayons to colour, blocks (tiny ones, not the classic bigger station that used to be there with the construction hats) and the cookies and milk (only good thing in there). My son was sad at the changes. Only the petting zoo and animals next room were only thing worth walking into the whole expo building for. Games and rides are all same old, same old. Still not what it was 10 years ago. BUT; DO NOT WATCH THE FIREWORKS AT THE RACE TRACK!!!!!! They stamp you to enter, then make you LEAVE through a parking lot with your kids at 11 at night when people are speeding through it and unsafe. To need to be patted down, searched and treated like criminals to come back in. I’m probably going to find a way to lodge a formal complaint about it; as the woman security was in a power trip and treated you like garbage criminals, yelled, made people upset, etc. I was trying to follow instructions and when I tried to get through the lady screamed at me for not getting patted down. He hadn’t stopped me to do so, and even waved me through after the lady yelled at me (he kinda knew a 38 was old mom wasn’t going to be the kind of criminal she wanted us to be). Then my son, who was hiding behind my husband because of her yelling; well, they put my husband through and the rude bitchy lady went to overlook him and not send him thorough with us; until her partner off to the side stepped in immediately to save him and get him back to us. Someone was paying attention at least.

I was furious and, yes, in the end this lady got as much attitude from me as she gave. You don’t treat people like garbage for no reason, yell, make innocents criminals and separate children from parents. Everyone who went through that gate was upset and treated like dirt. If she changed her attitude and wasn’t so violent I can guarantee you the crowd would of felt safer and eased up too. It works two ways.

Plus; we’d of like warned this was gonna happen just for watching fireworks. All the crowd would of stayed on the inside of the gates. Not went to the track viewing area. There needs to be a public notice about this change of policy. There was no need to treat us all bad for being the crowd ‘entering the park’ at 11:15pm like we’re ‘trouble’. There needs to be more education. The whole experience ruined the whole of our day. Even this ladies coworkers were trying to calm her down and tell her 'this is only the fireworks crowd' but still, she was power hungry and treating people horribly.
