Situated in the heart of Little Italy - KAFANA is a hidden gem specializing in Balkan food; specifically Former Yugoslavian cuisine.

Join us for the best the Balkan heritage has to offer as we emulate diverse traditions, the beauty of the culture, and the richness of the cuisine. The succulent aroma combined with every delectable bite, is a genuine hint of the inimitable experience back home; while the simplicity of the establishment will make you feel at ease.
The Balkan cuisine has influences from the Byzantine-Greek, and the Austro-Hungarian regions; all which combined, contribute an opulent range of dishes that are shared and adored in the diaspora.
Please feel free to walk in or make a reservation. Our space has become popular to cater to various occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, stags, baby showers, baptisms and business meetings.

Went to try dinner and loved It! It Reminded me of mama's cooking! A hidden gem!!!!!
We had our staff Christmas party here and both the food and service were outstanding. I highly recommend!
This was our first time here and most definitely will be back. Great atmosphere, food, and people.
This is a family favorite!! Food is always good, portions are generous, atmosphere is awesome if you’re from a European background...feels like home.
The food was excellent and the service was very good. Definitely going back there.
My fiancé and I drive from Calgary to go to Kafana. It has an amazing atmosphere, the owner is wonderful, and the food is some of the best in Edmonton. It’s authentic and it’s made with love.
Kafana is an excellent restaurant! I had the šapska salad and a large cevapi, and everything was delicious. The cevapi was a sausage like meat that you eat with a piece of bread, onions, and optional cream cheese. The šapska salad was very similar to a Greek salad with a slightly different dressing. My waitress, Tia, had wonderful service and even better conversation! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone interested in the taste of the Balkans.
