About Keck Container Consulting

Keck Container Consulting is a mobile shipping container surveying, inspection, and consulting company servicing Alberta and beyond!

Keck Container Consulting Description

In the 1960’s, there was an incredibly rapid increase in the use of freight containers for the consignment of goods by sea and the development of specialized container ships. In 1967, the International Marine Organization (IMO) decided it necessary to review and study the safety of containerization relating to marine transport.

In 1972, the finalized Convention was adopted at a conference jointly convened by the United Nations and IMO. The Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) was set; rules and regulations relating to container, equipment and human safety were put into effect and remain largely the same today. Every Shipping Container built since the CSC took place is built in accordance with the regulations set forth and must be maintained and inspected at specific intervals and against a detailed criterion.

Keck Container Consulting provides qualified re-certification of expired containers. 5 years from the date of manufacture, the container will need to be recertified. Using the criteria outlined by the Periodic Examination Scheme (PES), the structural components of the container will be inspected for flaws, damage and wear. This includes analysis of the corrugated panels, corner posts and castings, headers, sills, rails, floors, cross members, doors, seals and vents. Once deemed structurally sound and wind /water tight, Keck Container Consulting will provide the necessary documentation and decaling required by all Shipping Lines.

Keck Container Consulting also provides inspections as outlined by the Acceptable Container Examination Program (ACEP). ACEP examinations are typically done in accordance with a container repair. When a container is damaged within its 5 years of manufacture date, or within 30 months of its expiry after a PES examination, the container will require an inspection of the repairs ensuring they are conforming as laid out by the CSC. Conforming repairs ensure the containers factory specifications regarding stacking and racking are met or exceeded. Keck Container Consulting is also available to consult on said repairs to ensure there are no issues with re-certification under the ACEP program, as the criteria is specific.

Please don't hesitate to contact Keck Container Consulting for all of your container survey, inspection, consulting, and re-certification needs!
