Kodiak Martial Arts Taber Description

The following programs are offered in sessions (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring). See our website for dates and times.

Programs

Tiny Tigers- This program is designed for 4-7 year olds to create a love of the martial arts with your child by keeping them engaged and motivated though a series of specialized games and exercises. Your child will learn how to be more coordinated, disciplined, and work with others.

Tigers- The Tigers program is designed for 8-12 year olds. The main goal of this class is to build good character through our motto “discipline, integrity, respect. ” The curriculum is based on traditional Taekwondo, with some realistic self defense. Your child will learn the basics of this art to prepare them for the adult training.

Adult Programs 13 +

Taekwondo: Tyrel's "Reality Based Taekwondo" combines concepts and patterns of traditional Taekwondo with elements of realistic self defense. We study the kicks, techniques, and curriculum of traditional Taekwondo for fun and exercise.

Self Defense: Students will learn realistic self defense techniques and tactics, based on situations that occur in today's world. They will learn the Conflict Cycle, and the Use of Force Continuum. They will learn how to be aware of potential danger, survive attacks, and how to deal with the second battle: the legal system.

Reality Based Personal Protection: Students will have access to the following courses Mr McLelland is certified to teach:
- Defensive Tactics
- Ground Survival
- Knife Survival
- Crime Survival
- Terrorism Survival

Yoga

A vinyasa flow class guiding you through postures creating a link between the body, the breath and the mind. While strengthening the body, the practice helps to cultivate awareness and create a sense of balance throughout our bodies. This class is all levels. Please send us a message for more information.

8 classes - One hour each - on Tuesdays till December 18th. One week we will host on Thursday as well, this will make the total of 8 classes wrapped up before Christmas.
Safety is the primary concern for all Reality-Based Personal Protection courses, and you will be allowed to go at your pace at your own skill level. The second priority is that everybody keeps their egos outside of the classroom and fosters a positive learning environment.

I met Grand Master Pierce many years ago when my school joined his Hwa Rang Taekwondo Federation. I competed in several of his tournaments, and in the time I spent with him, I learned a lot. He will be missed. - Mr McLelland

This will be our belt rank testing! We may have a guest judge, so practice hard, and look your best. Please be wearing a clean, white pressed uniform. If you must wear a shirt underneath, it should be a white shirt, tucked into your pants.

This course is not a sport-based ground fighting class, but a tactical course for real-life street and battlefield situations.
This course starts with teaching you Falls and how to safely land on the ground if you are pushed, thrown, trip, or decide to go to the ground yourself; such as if someone is shooting at you and you are in an open area. When it comes to falls there are only nine possible directions, and you’ll learn them all coupled with tactical situations.
