Wow! What a great day on the mats!
Glad to see so many old faces! At one point in our lives we all use to share the same mats... pushing each other to the next level! We’ve all gone our separate ways but it’s great to get the Jiu-jitsu family together and catch up over the holidays!

Seasons greetings! A message from Prof Randy . #Repost @buddhafunksoulja ・・・ The goal isn’t to be the biggest baddest gym in town.... . There are 1.3 million people in Calgary. If there were 20 Jiu-jitsu clubs in the city and if 500 members are needed for each gym to be prosperous (I’m being greedy with 500) that’s 10,000 people all together which is about 0.7% of the population. Each individual has there own preference in atmosphere and coaching style and each gym offers something different... Bottom line... there are more then enough people to teach! . Athletes, fighters, competitors, need each other to compete. If every gym tried to run each other out of business there would be no one to compete against! . A thriving competition scene depends on the success of the gyms backing it up! . Looking to other cities with a strong Jiu-jitsu community as examples... most of them get along... and they grow together! . The MISSION is to spread the art we love to as much people as we can... to change as many lives as possible! . With this outlook even when we were literally just down the street from @101academy @kimuratown101 and the Chung brothers still got along! . Maybe I’m being naive but as Master @juliogfteam as my example... I choose to live in abundance. You can never give too much love. You can never give too much respect. . Mad Respect to the YYC Jiu-jitsu brotherhood/sisterhood!!! We share the same path. We share the same journey. . I truly believe in order to be happy, fulfilled and successful the people around me has to be happy, fulfilled and successful. . Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!!! 🎄 . I wish you all prosperous 2019! . Sincerely - GFTeam YYC . Seasons greetings YYC! 🎄😊

User

Wonderful people, nice and super friendly coaches.. love them

User

Very warm and welcoming gym and coaches. Clean facility with a shower and friendly atmosphere.

User

The coaches are excellent, as practitioners of the martial arts themselves and as teachers of others. They are attentive, inspiring and clearly passionate about the martial arts and teaching what they know to their students. The gym is welcoming and serves the full range of interests, from students who simply want to have a casual hobby to those who want to compete.

I've been training jiu jitsu with this group for about a year now. Randy and Walton are great at tayloring the class so that all levels of skill can participate. It's a welcoming environment, no cliques here. I've found all my training partners there to be collaborative. It's a great community and a great workout!

User

I really like them. They're learning jui jitsu and it's the first martial arts place that I've seen where kids are totally engaged while learning self defense.

User

I haven't had a chance to visit this dojo, but I have had the pleasure of training around their instructors. Friendly, positive, and respectful are understatements. On top of it all, their skills will make your jaw drop. When I'm in the market for a place to learn jiu jitsu in Calgary, Kodokan YYC will absolutely be my top choice.

User

I have learned a lot from Randy and Walton. Excellent teachers with great insights not just in the martial arts, but in how they fit for my body type and skill level. Highly recommend.

User

I had started training with Randy on April 10th of this year for physical fitness and some combative training, and find him to be an excellent coach. He assessed my level of fitness and has slowly progressed, increasing with each visit my strength and cardio. At the beginning of our training (on April 10th) I was 219.0 lbs and 36.0% body fat (according to my scale). The last time I checked, 14 weeks later, I can happily say that I am down to 210.0 lbs and 30.0% body fat; I feel stronger and better after each workout. In addition to the weight loss, I have advanced degenerative disks that is affecting my sciatica nerve on one leg and this has even diminished almost completely! SUPER!!! We have about 3 more months left wherein I would like to see 25.0% body fat (or less) and believe with Randy's coaching and motivation that it can be accomplished. Thank you Randy, you are awesome!
