Tried out a new foiling technique today thanks to the amazing @tressesbytress @trainingwithtress . My client today has mature roots and we wanted to blend with some highlights and lowlights, with that though we have to be careful not to give her a “stripey” look on the top of her head. I went in on a diagonal with foils over where she parts her hair. This giving us this beautiful blend! And no stripes!! 🙌🏻

#Repost @the_hair_doctor with @get_repost ・・・ #Repost @cassandraplatinum with @get_repost... ・・・ ⭐️Total Cost for this Service was $1000⭐️ So I’m a little late to the @the_hair_doctor ‘Break the Internet’ Challenge, Here’s my take on the pricing conversation. 💫Flash Back to almost 4 years ago...this single visit transformation was one of my biggest triumphs and also one of the more controversial posts I’ve made... 4 years ago 10 hour color service were JUST starting to be talked about...talking about pricing was pretty much unheard of. In this case, I wrote a step-by-step article of this color service for a publication and part of the article I was asked to include my price for the service (I panicked lol). And instead of giving an exact price gave my hourly rate at the time ($100) and then allowed the audience to calculate based off the length of the service ($100x10)...so here’s where the controversy came in- HUNDREDS of comments about how I charged way too much, or way too little, or how stylists in small towns could never charge that much etc,. etc., etc...At first this made me feel really crappy, but then (as I was responding to all the comments ) I realized I charged that rate FOR A REASON- 3 main reasons, actually: 1. The time involved with this service took up an entire day of work. An easy solution to figuring out your hourly minimum is taking your average day and dividing it between your hours worked. That’s the base guideline for my starting prices.
2. This service took 14 separate steps to achieve. This involves product and lots of it. 3. No one else in my area was able or willing to take this guest from level 1 to level 12 in one visit. There’s a value to specializing and there’s a value to be willing to do the things that others won’t. However you would choose to price this services, make sure you are considering all the factors and make sure you have SUPER clear communication with your clients about process and budget. I have clients that are waiting to get in to see me and it is not fair to take an appointment that someone else would GLADLY have and not show up. And not only that my time is worth a lot more then that! Everyone now knows I’m very busy and have very limited time for myself and or my other loyal clientele!
