Of course being a new facility it is sooo clean, love it. The treadmill, elliptical etc are like walking on clouds very quiet and smooth. Bathrooms are spotless and so far I have always seen someone around cleaning. The layout is fabulous lots of room and I don't feel like we are crammed. I can't wait until the pool and hot tub are functioning. Racquetball!! What!! Great options and basketball/volleyball. Prices at this time were unbeatable. I will be gone for 3 weeks to Phoenix and will be able to use my membership at any of the clubs. It's worth a drop in just to check it out!

User

I don’t know about other people’s experiences but I LOVE THIS GYM!!!! I stopped going (personal reasons) for about a year but I kept promoting them and bragging about how great it is! The vibe, the place, the “little things “ that other gyms don’t have... the smiles... you can choose to go by yourself, with a gym buddy or invite a group! So fun! I don’t know, I was invited to sign up to other places but nobody could ever change my mind about switching.

Hey, LA FITNESS west location, would you mind making sure your paper towel dispensers are not empty all over the gym...? Last weekend I was unable to find any paper towel at 3 spots!!!

Having Kleenex would be definitely a luxury, I guess customers get to use those on some special days only... Maybe there's a schedule when it's available, if so, please make it public...

I guess your (no doubt friendly, nice and helpful staff) could check if there's paper towel available in the gym and changing rooms instead of surfing online...

Thank you for your understanding.

Otherwise no claims. Good gym.

User

Good layout of equipment, clean, although they need a better set up for cleaning off machines as the whole paper towel and little soap containers is kind of a pain in the ass. Maybe get some pre soaked disinfectant wipes ! Overall not a bad spot haven't had any problems with the staff and there is lots of room to work out just avoid the busy times.

User

As with all new clubs, they are great when they are new, most of the time. I did have a problem once when I had to cancel for a while due to work. I was unable to cancel after 6PM! But I sure bet I could buy a membership after 6PM!

Apparently they changed that now. I tried to take a video of me asking the girl about not being able to cancel after 6PM and the guy who was working there was VERY rude and said it's in my contract.

Anyway, the guy probably isn't working there anymore. The club is clean and the rates are reasonable. As far as the personal training, I've never been one for that. If anyone is new, they should find a friend who works out already and get tips from them. I find that the way they train people these days are complicated. Pulling on ropes and using the ball etc. You don't need all that stuff. Read magazines or get info on the net. That's all you really need.

What we were promised upon signing and what we got are 2 completely different things. We have 3 kids and the daycare appealed to us. But now the daycare is the worst part about going to the gym. It's only open from 8-12 in the morning, making for a rushed morning and opens again at 4pm just so you can elbow your way through the countless amount of people hitting the gym. There is no daycare Saturday afternoons and NO daycare AT ALL on Sunday's because apparently parents don't workout on weekends. Besides the crappy hours, they barely have any toys to keep the kids busy with in the daycare. My kids don't want to go because they are bored by the first hour. I called the gym in the morning to confirm that the daycare would be open and was told it was open all day regular hours, only to pack up my kids and get there at 5pm and be told the manager just canceled it. That is bull! I will be changing gyms as soon as I can, along with the people I know who left LA fitness due to their crappy daycare.

User

There kids club hours aren't very great! I wish they would be open for the afternoon...

8-12 & 4-8 doesn't always fit with my schedule! Would be nice to go anytime of the day! Also not open on Sundays ;-(

Im in search for another gym that offers longer hours!

Also women's bathroom isn't always clean

User

There is just two things that is not good.... they don't have internet wifi and the employees really need customer service training!! They are not polite at all and if u ask something they look at you like you are disturbing them with stupid question!! :( this is really bad... I work with people everyday and unfortunately the service is not the best!! :(

User

So the gym itself is really nice, great layout and lots of machines and equipment. The down side is that there isn't wifi at this location, but the other ones have it... And having paper towel and disinfectant is a terrible idea because it is so inconvenient, so no one ever cleans their machine. They really need to install disinfectant wipes in more accessible areas. Also, it would be nice to have a waterbottle filling station instead of just water fountains. All easy low cost fixes that would make this gym way better.

User

The staff is unbelievably rude.

They had asked me if I would like to refer someone and the person I referred had nothing but bad things to say.

He had asked the staff to show him where certain equipment was and they came back and said " your not a member here so you are on your own go find the equipment yourself"

If you want new members how about treating people with respect.

They have 0 care for the members, they have made it very clear.

The men's bathroom was completely disgusting at one point because apparently they didn't have anyone to clean it............ if I managed the place I personally would shut the bathroom down and get in there and clean it myself.

Apparently the staff wants to be treated poorly because that's how they treat people who are interested in joining La Fitness.

The manager is also very unprofessional bashing all the other gyms in Edmonton. Just because La fitness has good equipment doesn't mean your customer service skills should be shut down.

User

Quality of gym all depends on when you go, and on what day. Some days it's clean and empty, other days it's disgustingly dirty and way to busy. Still no Wi-Fi, and any issues brought up are just brushed off by management.

User

What a joke, this company should be shut down by the courts and fined millions for the fraud they commit. They offer personal trainer for a fee, fine, paid, and then I try to book and "only on her time", then get a message I should book months in advance. Excuse Fing Me!, I'm the customer, not the crap on. I'll bet your company doesn't even comply with the law in all your staff have to have their first aid and CPR courses and certificates up to date. Maybe a lawyer time.

User

These guys are crooks. They frustrate you when you want to cancel. I texted one of the staff members a week before and she didn’t tell me I need to come to the location to cancel. Who does that nowadays when there’s electronic ways to sign documents? Anyway, they charged me for three months. Jeff, their manager, is very incompetent. Finally, they repaid me two months and I’m not done with them yet. I want all of it.

Don’t go there if there’s an alternative.

User

There's always something with these people. They are either screwing up on my account by forgetting to add people or have the wrong credit card. And today find out the child care isn't even open on weekends pretty much? You'd think that it would be open on days that people have off not when people have to work all week. But hey you know probably another reason why your gyms always dead compared to other gyms that are actually busy

User

I went to the gym today - arrived at 3pm. There was nobody at the desk checking people in. After cardio I prepared to start working out only to have someone come and tell me they close at 4pm. One sign way off to the right side of the front desk and they expect people to know of their holiday hours? Now as I sit in the parking lot I have seen 5 people arrive to work out only to find out the doors are locked. This is not the kind of service I expect - every gym I have ever been too has had the courtesy to make sure members know if any special hours.

User

I went in two months ago to get a membership and start personal training. I sustained an injury and I had hoped that personal training would get me back on my feet. When I came in to look at the memberships everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, the manager for the trainers told me that I come first as the client, that they will make sure I am taken care of. I am put with a trainer whom I enjoyed working out with, he was funny, friendly, and knowledgeable. Well this past Sunday during our session I was informed that he had applied and did an interview for a different job. He told me at that time he didn't know if he got the job or not. I'm okay with that, if you found something you love to do and can do it, go for it. My mistake was expecting that this trainer and the manager of the trainers would conduct themselves professionally. Boy was I wrong!! I get a call yesterday two hours before my scheduled session to tell me that my trainer wasn't feeling well. Okay no problem, then I was informed that yesterday was his last day. The information didn't quite hit me right away. Because someone who is a professional, a company who claims their clients are extremely important to them wouldn't pull such a bull ***t move. No a professional would have given two weeks notice, that's what this trainer should have done. He should have given me two weeks notice, not two hours that he was leaving. THEN the manager should have insured that I was transitioned to another trainer with the same skill set so that it was seamless and I wouldn't miss any sessions. Well, when the receptionists information sunk in I told her that I needed to speak with the manager to sort out my training situation. Because as of that moment, I have five months of personal training sessions and no trainer. I leave the message with my phone number and then I hear nothing back. So I go in today to sort things out, the manager shrugged his shoulders, he F**** shrugged his shoulders when I told him that I no longer have a trainer. He couldn't care less about the situation. His response, "So pick another trainer." I don't know any of these trainers!!! It's NOT my job as a client to pick a trainer! I told him that, he acted like I put him out, he set me up with a guy he said wasn't like the trainer I had but in a pinch he'll do. No appology's, nothing, they conducted themselves in a highly unprofessional manner and they didn't care. If I wasn't tied into this damn place for the next five months I would drop them faster than a bad habit! AVOID THIS GYM!

User

I had no issues with the gym until recently when I inquired about cancelling my membership since I will be moving out of province and they do not have any locations in BC. When I asked staff about cancelling they told me to wait until 5 days before my billing so I could maximize my membership, so I wait and sign the paper work. Staff reassure me I will not be charged the next billing cycle and if for some reason I am I will be refunded. The billing date comes and I am charged, then I receive a notification that my paper work had been processed two days later. (Even though I submitted it 8 days prior) I call and speak with the operations manager who initially tells me I had to give 10 days noticed (which is a lie) then when I inform him that his staff are telling everyone 5 days and I gave 5 days he says he will submit a claim to corporate and that I should receive a refund in 5-10 days. The refund never comes so I call yet again, this time he tells me I need 7 days notice and that the claim was denied, yet his staff are still giving false information telling everyone they only need 5 days notice.

It sounded to me that he was trying to place blame on his staff rather than resolve this issue. If your staff are telling customers one thing you should stand behind it and apologize instead of deflecting blame. Clearly there is inadequate training and poor management of the facility.

User

Caution! My wife cancelled her personal trainer months ago, but we continue to be charged over $200 per month on our credit card. Each time she speaks to a manager they say they will fix this, only for us to be charged again. We have now cancelled the card, but have lost over $700! Still waiting for a resolution. Check out Consumer Affairs for multiple similar testimonies.

User

Cancelled my gym membership and was still charged for the following month. When I talked to Jeff the manager he said he couldn't possibly do anything for me to reimburse me my money. He said that their machines aren't capable of doing that. This is just very disappointing that they will just take your money even though you won't be using their facilities for the next month.

Quality of gym all depends on when you go, and on what day. Some days it's clean and empty, other days it's disgustingly dirty and way to busy. Still no Wi-Fi, and any issues brought up are just brushed off by management.

Caution! My wife cancelled her personal trainer months ago, but we continue to be charged over $200 per month on our credit card. Each time she speaks to a manager they say they will fix this, only for us to be charged again. We have now cancelled the card, but have lost over $700! Still waiting for a resolution.
