Lac Des Arcs Campground

Nice and close to the city and hikes. Smaller camp ground so usually quiet. The sites are a fair size. The sites in the centre are not very treed. Some RV's like that, but I prefer more trees.

The worst bathrooms of any campground I have visited. Also, whomever used the site before us urinated in the campsite and also didn't clean up after their dog. The park staff should be responsible for ensuring the campsite is ready for the next set of campers. There is also a La Farge plant, train tracks and the highway surrounding the campground. Good luck enjoying yourself here and finding peace & quiet.

Worst experience ever. The camp supervisor was completely disrespectful and used foul language and an inhospitable tone when attempting a shakedown, to charge us an extra 3x the amount we had paid for the night as well as a major problem due to miscommunication. We were appalled with the way this site is run and how we were treated. the site was basic with no amenities and the lake is full of leeches. If you wanted to be treated like garbage and spoken to as if you are an idiot, then it's the place for you!

Great little spot. We wanted to stay at Bow Valley Campground but it was full, so we drove across the street to this one. Its unassuming, because the main part is all flat land for RVs, but drive a little further in and there are very private, lush camp sites. Each one has a picnic table and fire pit. Some are so lush you cant even see the whole site from the drive way part. When we were there (June 2017) we registered our license plate and put money in a box. Super easy. Views from around the site are really nice. Water is available. Swing set and stuff for kids in the main part.

There are many private and well treed campsites in this campground.Center is more suited to groupcamping. The campground is located next to the highway but highway noise becomes white noise very quickly. We arrived on a Wednesday and campground was almost empty and campers very quiet. The views are spectacular, the lake is beautiful. It is a more basic campground and water is non potable.19 km from Canmore and near lots of hikes. Must make online reservations and staff is limited. We loved our stay here. We stayed 5 nights.
Would come again.

The campground itself was ok but the camp manager (an older lady with short hair) was one of the most rude people I have encountered in a while... she told us that we sang happy birthday to our friend too loud and that he weren't "respecting" the other campers. Then she went to the campers next to us and told them that that we where all "drunk" (we had a bottle of champagne on the picnic table to celebrate our friends birthday) and if we caused them any trouble to contact her... what she didn't know at that point was that we where friends with the campers next to us and they felt incredibly uncomfortable with her trying to get us in trouble AND going over to them to bad mouth us and try to get them to complain about us was HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. It was very upsetting to be almost 30 years old and have someone treat us like scorned school children... especially since we weren't doing anything wrong and this woman decided for some reason that she just didn't like us. It was very upsetting and I probably won't go back to this campground just because of this woman. (None of the other staff members or park rangers told us that we were being loud or anything like that... they told us that we were just fine and not doing anything wrong)

Don't even bother. Considerable highway noise and a view of a factory of some sort. View of the mountains and lake cut off by bush. The bush between sites however has been expertly cleared to guarantee a complete lack of privacy. Given the beautiful camping spots in this area I can't see any reason to stay at this one

Despite proximity to the highway, and rail line servicing industry next to the lake it was rather peaceful and quiet. Spaced out nicely from adjacent campsites with fire pits available at each site. Make sure to reserve via online portal on Alberta site.

Worst night I've ever had camping. The noise from the highway is unbearable all night long. If you are tenting, stay away.
