Congratulations to Allanholme Farms of Dundas, Ontario with Mary.
Merry Christmas to everyone! Safe travels and all the best for the New Year.
Back in 1979, my father purchased one of his first Registered Percheron mares from the Lucasia Ranch. He dealt with 2 of the most kind gentlemen that we have ever met. I was only 14 at the time, but remember it like it was yesterday. Both Bill and his son Wayne toured us around the ranch and showed us herds of both Percherons and Appaloosas. The hi-light was seeing that massive French bred grey stallion, Farmen. Almost 40 yrs later, I visited the Lucasia Ranch again. Following his grandfather and father’s footsteps, Brett is very much a Lucas. The good hearted young man toured my wife and I around the pastures to witness the best mare herd that I’ve seen in a while. We ended up purchasing this young stallion prospect by Kirby’s Silver and out of a Pleasant View King mare.
Just received our custom made bale feeders. We designed it so weanlings cannot jump in them and hurt themselves. Hopefully no more injuries.
Was very noisy last night with a few raspy voices this morning. Mares and foals have been weaned and are very grumpy.
Thank you and congratulations to Mark and Natalie Hill, Rolling Hills Clydesdales on their purchase of our horse van. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Took some grain out to the horses this morning. Everyone healthy and accounted for. It’s a good start of the day. Lol
We sold our truck last week. Congratulations to Rob, you got a good reliable unit! We will now put the horse van up for sale in the spring. We will keep you posted.
We don’t share the same sense of humour as Mother Nature has! HaHa, very funny! NOT!!!
We were at the Remington Carriage Museum today in Cardston, Alberta. All l can say is, “It is Amazing”.
Back in June, I had posted the first picture of young families of geese. The second picture is taken this morning of the same families.
Saw a flock of Sandhill Cranes cleaning up the left over oats that the horses left behind.
The start of haying season has begun!
Another long night watching and assisting a maiden mare. Mother and baby are doing fine this morning. Our 2018 foaling season is finally over. What a year! 90% success rate. Couldn’t had done it without the help of our entire family and good friend Dr. Greg Benoit along with his staff.
We’ve picked up our second Rotty this weekend. Now the farm will be safer of all the theft happening in the area. WARNING: Best to announce yourselves before getting out of your vehicle.
Last night we foaled out a big stud cold for Eaglesfield Percherons by Ryan Day Jordon out of our mare Jaylea’s Farrah. Took a little work but all is now well.
