Last winter I left the Trans Canadian to stop in here most weekends to pick up a couple of ham sandwiches for myself and my two young boys on our way to the ski hill and again on the way home to pick up a coffee with macaroons. They would cut one of the sandwiches in half for my boys to share. This winter my wife is returned to skiing from her knee injury and so I was excited to introduce her to Le Fournil Bakery in Canmore a couple of weeks ago with the plan of buying 3 ham sandwiches between the 4 of us.

They refused to cut one of the sandwiches in half stating that it is their new policy never to cut sandwiches that are take out, regardless as to whether or not the customer has made such a request. I explained the reason for requesting one of the sandwiches to be cut. The manager/owner came out of the kitchen which I thought would result in common sense being applied; sadly not. Having worked in food retail, I simply don't believe in the expression, "le client est toujours raison", however, the way that we were treated on this occasion is at best idiotic and at worst rude and demonstrates a degree of contempt.

Rather embarrassing having bigged-up this establishment to my wife only for her to experience incredibly poor service on her very first visit.

Please could the owner demonstrate a little more consideration towards children who might wish to eat the lovingly prepared food.

For those people on their way through to LAKE LOUISE, there is an AMAZING DELI serving fresh salads, sandwiches, delectable pastries and beautifully hand crafted petits gâteaux and flavourful coffees at the FAIRMONT HOTEL by the edge of the lake. Their staff are always friendly, prices are surprisingly lower than you might expect for the high quality AND they will cut a sandwich in half for your young children if you ask.

Breakfast worth every penny. French music with a very tasty French baguette. La douce France next to the 3 Sisters.

This is the best bakery in the Banff/Canmore area. It’s a real taste of french pastries. Try the blueberry danish - you won’t be disappointed.

Great food and coffee. I haven’t tried their bakery but it all looks good. Nice view.

Excellent French-style patisserie. If you're looking for great French pastries and desserts, look no further. This place is a little gem. Everything is prepared with extreme care to detail, looks wonderful and tastes great. Don't miss out on the Danoise aux bluets.

French patisserie goods to die for. The almond croissants are sublime. The cheesecake eclair heaven, and the chocolate cake is ooh lala.
A little treasure in Canmore and well worth the visit.
Everything is baked fresh in house and very well presented. They also serve delicious lunches; if you like well made quiches you will love le fournil.

We stopped in after riding the legacy trail. The texture of the macaron was incredible. My husband tried the chocolate eclair and the balance between the delicate pastry and rich chocolate cream was spot on. Probably the best eclair I have ever tasted.

We were in Paris a year ago and though we had the best Almond croissant ever. Nope this place in Canmore has the world's best Almond croissant!!! The ham and cheese croissant was amazing too. We purchased a 50$ gift card for our friends who got married that weekend. Can't wait to come back! Make sure there are Almond croissant's for us!! Thanks again! Oh PS.. the lights were a bit dusty and floor could have been swept. Was there at 8:30am.

The best bakery I've been to in Alberta. The almond croissants are exquisite. Beautiful mountainous location not far from from Calgary.

Omg the decadence! Had a very sinful dark chocolate creation that was a mix of devils food cake and ganache.I'm glad I don't know the calorie count! Can't wait to return!
