Thank you Randy Schmitz and Jimmy Wilson for putting on a great “Bus Rescue” course this weekend for Leduc County Fire Services and our regional partners. We look forward to building this course with you guys into next year. Please stay tuned for 2019 course dates. #AVEA
“Smoke Eaters” had the best season finish yet. They came in 6th place overall. Great work guys.
Next game for our “Smoke Eaters” is at 12:30pm today. Come down to the Nisku ball fields for a great game.
We just won 21-5, next game is at 2pm at the Nisku ball fields.
Our firefighters won the first game of the weekend 20-19. Great work “Smoke Eaters”.
Tonight our firefighters from our eastern district were demonstrating there skills and professionalism when dealing with hose deployments at elevations above ground. Great work by our New Sarepta District firefighters.

Our firefighters hosted a Kid’s fun day in the park yesterday. As you can see it was a great success. Thank you to all that participated.
Last night was a great night for some live fire training. Here are a few shots from our Nisku District Firefighters and Edmonton International Airport Firefighters refining their skills to deal with spilled liquid and vapour fires.
Fire Chief Fleming's Retirement Event July 31, 2018 3pm - 8pm at the Nisku District Station
In response to a number of inquires regarding a group retirement gift for for the Chief:
There will be a card box, a piggy bank for those who feel they want to contribute to his coach fund and/or a fishing hat for those who may want to add a fly or two (Fishing hook). Please do not feel that you need to bring anything, it's just that we have had a number of inquires so we have come up with a couple ideas. We know that your presence is the most treasured to our Fire Chief!
Well look at that.

Members from our Calmar District were at the station this morning working on medical refreshers. This training is not part of their regular required training sessions. These members have gone above the requirement to be as proficient as possible to better serve our residents. We appreciate the dedication that you are demonstrating and what it truly means to be a firefighter with Leduc County Fire Services. Thank you.
Leduc County Fire Services is partnering with FireWise Consulting to provide a fire investigator's course to firefighters throughout Alberta in September. One of the hosting responsibilities for this course is to set up simulated rooms using old household furniture and appliances in a burn cell, which will then be set on fire. The team of investigators will use the skills learned during the course to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
If you have unneeded household i...tems that you would be willing to donate to the course, please contact Leduc County Fire Services at 780-955-7099 to arrange for drop off at the Nisku District Station. Please note that we are only able to accept deliveries at this time.

July is BBQ safety month.
There's nothing like outdoor grilling. It's one of the most popular ways to cook food. But, a grill placed too close to anything that can burn is a fire hazard. They can be very hot, causing burn injuries. Summer is the peak month for grill fires and that's why this month, the Office of the Fire Commissioner is focused on BBQ and fire pit safety.
... Safety Tips:
- Propane and charcoal BBQ grills should only be used outdoors. - The grill should be placed well away from the home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches. - Keep children and pets at least three feet or 1 metre away from the grill area. - Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill. - Never leave your grill unattended. Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it.
