We just love this photo! It was sent to us from another coffee lover who has discovered @cdbloomstudio located on Elma Street in Okotoks. We think it pretty much sums us the atmosphere you’ll find there. Bright, cozy and inviting. #bloomsandbeans

Just dropped off some fresh bags of coffee for @caitcraftedconfections in south Calgary. Is there seriously anything better than a morning with a hot cup of coffee ☕️ and a fresh pastry 🥐when fall 🍂 is in the air?

Seeing the once bright yellow canola fields behind our roasting loft made me think about harvest time. Here in Alberta, commercial farm machines are a common sight this time of year. On small specialty coffee farms like the ones we get our coffee from, you won’t find machines. The next photo shows a typical Colombian Coffee farm. The steep slopes require hand picking which also allows selectively picking only the ripe berries. Sure, there are large scale commercial operations in some coffee producing countries that machine harvest everything at once including ripe, unripe, over ripe, bug infested coffee berries.....but that usually finds its way into a Timmie’s cup. Just saying. 😏

We’ve been roasting some new coffees over the past few weeks. This Honduras RFA 🇭🇳 which we sampled this morning via pour over, French press and Drip is promising. Stay tuned for release details and tasting notes.

We’re so excited to announce our partnership with @cdbloomstudio, a floral design studio and coffee bar opening this afternoon on Elma Street in Okotoks. The owners Cindy and Jim have been working tirelessly over the past number of months, planning, designing and building a truly outstanding, stunningly beautiful space! Their commitment to quality and attention to detail makes us proud and honoured to be chosen as their coffee provider. We look forward to sharing our Kickstart Espresso with all of you and invite you to visit their space, grab a coffee and soak up the surroundings. ☕️💐😊

We finally received some cooler weather and took advantage of it by roasting up a few batches. By the way, this is a batch. Only 5kgs goes in and around 9lbs come out nice and brown. We think good things in life often come in small batches. Grandma’s cookies....yeah, Craft beer....oh yeah. Loft Coffee.......ohhhhhhhh yeeeeaaaaah. 😉

Our roasting loft often gives us some great views of the crazy weather patterns that come and go throughout the summer. This one from last week came right over us and was headed straight for Okotoks. 😳#yikes

Congrats to @jaimiem our winner for the suggestion! Now, why did we go ‘Kickstart’ you ask? When we first heard the name, it immediately took us back to a time when as kids, we used to have to ‘...kickstart’ our little dirt bikes. Those were good times. Then, more recently, there was the time my wife wanted me try out a new horse, and she was laughing at me as I was trying to ‘kickstart’ it, and it wouldn’t go. (now you know why Spurred On was #2 😂)
But lastly, we thought it just seemed to fit with what we are trying to do with Loft Coffee Co., that is, ‘kickstart’ a newly created business with the goal of serving great tasting, locally roasted coffee.
