First time going to lumber kings- went for fence boards. They were busy when we got there but then it died down later. One guy said we'd have to load ourselves because they were busy which was fine. We always load ourselves and never have any issues. Later two guys offered to help and I thought this place was great. Near the end an older fellow who works there came up to us and had an issue with how we restacked the wood we didn't want. He said we "made a mess" and said "it would turn gray overnight"...there was no mess and the boards were stacked off the ground and on the same pallet they were on. (If he's saying they will turn overnight do I still want that cedar wood he's selling?) A forklift could easily pick up the pallet and move it with the wood on top. Maybe they want it to look pretty so another person may buy the warped wood and they'd still make a profit? I don't know.
I go to a lumber yard expecting to be able to pick the boards I want and not have to take what is warped or damaged. I spent close to 2,000 there and the guy tells us to go back because we "threw it on the ground", which I already stated was not true. Then as we leave, the same guy and two other workers were sitting around while we double checked our straps and continued to stare at my wife and I as we left. Just when I was happy about my purchase and the service, they leave me disappointed. Sorry lumber kings- but I won't be returning unless it's a last resort. If I wanted no selection and no service I would have gone to a big box store or have it delivered. If they don't restack the wood, or clear out any garbage wood, what exactly do all the other people in the yard do?

Bought lumber for cedar project, best place in Alberta for good straight clean lumber. Drove down from Red Deer as the quality is worth the drive.

Amazing service every time I go. I am not much of a handyman and they took the time to help me draw up blueprints for my new fence and created a list of all the pieces I would need. They always have someone in the lumber yard to help you load your wood and pick through to ensure your are getting top quality. Have already recommended to a few other friends.

I went there today for the first time after hearing friends tell me for years that I need to get my lumber from there. I'm building a shed so figured I'd try them out. Service was good and the fellows who helped load me up were terrific. I even got a deal on some used sheathing.

I came home and decided to see just how much I'd saved over buying from home depot instead. My bill at LK would have been $530 if I hadn't bought the used sheathing instead of the new. My bill at HD would have been $406. In fact, I could have had new sheathing from HD for the price of the used sheathing from LK ($10 vs $16).

I even compared the price of 'select studs' between LK and HD. LK is still higher (presumably for the same quality level).

I'm pretty disappointed in the pricing but the service was good. $125 on $530 is not an insignificant amount of money.

Just finished buying cedar for a new horizontal slat fence I'm going to build. I took my plans and my estimate in and Danny spent an entire hour going over everything with me making sure my plans were accurate and I had exactly what I needed. He even showed me some ways to save money and buy less product then I originally planned which I super appreciate. Highly recommend using Lumber Kings - it was a an excellent experience.
