Happy #NationalChildDay! This year's theme is #RightToAnIdentity and as a play-based program we see so much of each child's identity through their play! We wanted to share some photos of our students and teachers building, expressing, and thinking creatively. The most profound learning, academically, socially, and developmentally, happens through play!
We also wanted to share the below message from SECD (Science of Early Childhood Development which speaks to the importance o...f play and children's rights.
"Today is Universal Children’s Day, a time to reflect and remind ourselves about the rights of children.
Children grow up in very different contexts, in families and societies with different values and resources. Views vary about what childhood represents and what children are able to do and not do and how they should be treated. While the concept of childhood is influenced by a variety of factors, support for the principles of child rights has been almost universally endorsed.
The United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) was adopted in 1989. Article 31 of the CRC recognizes the right of the child to engage in play and the provision of appropriate and equal opportunities for play.
Play is essential for healthy development. Play is the vehicle through which children’s learning is best supported. Lest We Forget... Although Remembrance Day can seem like an abstract concept for young children, we can still learn to be thankful for those who help others, work towards peace at home and globally, and be grateful for the sacrifices others have made for our safety.

Another PD Day and the MSP team is working hard and having fun at the same time (just like our students)! So in honor we want to give a shout-out to the MSP teachers, and all teachers, who give their time, commitment, and dedication to their students and families! Not only on a daily basis, but evenings and weekends too! Consistently staying up-to-date and ...informed with latest developments in their educational fields, teachers everywhere attend Professional Development days; engage in group planning, staff meetings, team meetings, and team building; pay out-of-pocket for conferences; and spend hours after work planning and gathering resources.
Teachers, we see you. We see all that you do and are so grateful that you have chosen this profession, and chosen to give your knowledge and passion to the future generations.

We have both our girls at MSP (2.5 yrs & 1 yr) and it has been such a beneficial experience for them. They are learning so much, interacting with other kids and adults, and are having so much fun each day. We feel confident in the wonderful care they are provided and they have made my transition back to work much easier by putting my mind at ease that my kids are in great hands. All the teachers are so caring and you can see they really enjoy being with the kids. We are so happy we found this wonderful place for our kids to go each day! Thank you MSP!

Our son attended Mahogany Scholars for almost 2 years. He really enjoyed it. The teachers are attentive, and well educated and you can tell that they are not just there to "work". The gym area is fantastic especially during the winter months.

My son has been enrolled at MSP since December when he turned 1 year old. We knew right from our first tour this was the place for us! He has loved everything about it. He comes home, well fed, tuckered out from all of the learning and playing, and constantly learning new things. The whole staff is like one big family, everyone knows all of the children and parents. The whole team is kind and caring. The owner/director Natasha has been wonderful. She addresses every question and concern I have ever had and has never made me feel like an "annoying mom" which I am sure I am :). I go to work and feel confident that my little guy is being well looked after and having a lot of fun all day. He loves his MSP family and will be staying with them for a long time!

My daughter has gone here since she was 2 and has excelled greatly as a student! This is not just a daycare but an educational learning centre with amazing staff and a fantastic owner who will answer all questions with professionalism. It is so nice going to work and knowing that my child is well taken care of, learning lots and eating healthy foods. Did I mention how beautiful the facility is as well! Top notch Mahogany Scholars!!
