About Manavta

4 billion people on our planet are subjected to unsafe sanitation. We are working on creating a world where clean water, hygiene and decent toilets is normal for everyone.

Manavta Description

Our project began in Nepal, where two-thirds of the population still relies on open defecation and many communities have no sanitation infrastructure. We partner with the communities, local NGOs and public officials to build EcoSan toilets at rural schools.

We build our toilets at schools, because children are the most affected by the lack of sanitation facilities. UNICEF estimates that 443 million school days are lost to sanitation-related diseases every year. Our top priority is to minimize that number. However, our work doesn’t end when the toilets are finished. Without classroom teaching of good sanitation practices, the toilets are entirely useless. Education is integral to the success of this project.
