*These practice sessions stand on their own, it is to offer those an introduction or for those who have a practice an opportunity to connect with a community practice – with like-minded individuals.
At this time I do not have any MBSR Series starting, as I am involved in a research project with the University of Calgary. I have some other recommendations; 1. https://www.presentmoment.ca/mindfulness- based-stress-reduc… - although she is in Lethbridge she does do some online series through the University of Calgary and usually promotes through her own webpage too. 2. http://www.practicalwellbeing.ca/ - he is offering a compassion based approach which I would strongly recommend. 3. https://www.mimentra.com/ - Derek offers a variety of courses that focuses more on cognitions/thoughts, you could check out his website and see if it maybe a fit for you. The Practice of Mindfulness Is a way of learning to relate in a new way to whatever is happening in your life, such as the challenges of stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, illness & everyday demands. You will learn skills to help you let go of the past, worry less about the future & live in the present with more balance, peace & flexibility. It will increase your resiliency & ability to concentrate, while having more clarity & stability in your life. Additionally, i...t will help you to increase your capacity for compassion towards yourself & others. Lastly, it will allow you to develop your own intuition and link to your wisdom so your decisions are made from a place of choice vs. being on automatic pilot or a place of habit.
Expect to Learn The possibilities for self-care, self-reflection by integrating mindfulness into your daily life. The seven foundational attitudes. How the practice of mindfulness improves the physiological impact of acute & chronic stress. Learn more about being alive through presence; awake to your thoughts, emotions & body sensations – without awareness there is no change!
Participant Commitment Daily practice & home assignments for up to 40-45 min. each day MUST Attend Orientation on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 from 10.00am to noon Attend ALL eight classes as best you can; From Sunday, April 30th, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:30pm (one must attend the orientation to continue with the series). Please be advised there is no session on Sunday, May 14th, 2017 and the series will run to Sunday, June 25th, 2017. Please Maintain confidentiality
To Participate Please bring a yoga mat (for sure); chairs and cushions will also be available. Loose comfortable clothing, a blanket, water bottle & pillow will also add to your overall comfort. Be open to the teachings while also trying it out for yourself, being curious, while finding out what works best for you & your overall wellness. Financial Investment Early bird $260.00 After April 3rd, 2017 $285.00 (includes GST)
You will receive; info at orientation, eight weeks of guided instruction (about 30 hours), mindful stretching, group dialogue, homework; written material, a day of mindfulness (June 17th, 2017 from 10.30am to 4.30pm) & access to weekly guided practices. If interested, act soon, as space is limited to 12 & remember most health benefits cover the cost or a portion of it. It can be categorized under psychological services.

A day for you, in mindful silence is a lovely way to focus on your self-care and cultivate kindness towards yourself. You will be facilitated throughout the day about six hours of guided practice and mindful stretching, surrounded by a supportive community of like-minded individuals.
