About Mercer Tavern

Located: 10363 104th Street

Mercer Tavern Description

Located in one of Edmonton’s oldest buildings in the Warehouse District downtown, The Mercer Tavern provides an inviting pub-style experience, offering authentic casual cuisine using fresh locally sourced ingredients.

Built in 1911 by John B. Mercer, the Mercer Warehouse was originally used to store liquor, cigars and wine. 101 years later, the building has been revitalized and transformed back to its original state, providing Edmontonians with a historic and approachable space to gather and enjoy good times with friends.

My first time at Mercer tavern and what else is there to be said then AMAZING! I sat at the wood and this young man named Daniel who I now refer to as Irish steel (inside joke) tended to me and informed me of all the daily specials, I told him I was looking for a bold cocktail, with his extensive knowledge of his craft he reccomend a boulivardier because I LOVE bourbon! He told me has been bartending for 6 years and won a flare bartending championship, I have never seen anything like it! It was so cool. Irish steel reccomend I order the fried chicken, they put a honey sriracha glaze on it, I drool thinking about it. Overall the experience was great and will definitely bring all my friends by to experience one of my new favorite spaces in edmonton.

User

Mariah was a great time. Made drinks perfect and made the entire atmosphere great. 10/10 would go again, only if she is working though haha.

User

Great tavern burger! Excellent selection of drinks and food. Get there early on game days though!

User

Great service and spectacular food!!

User

Came to Mercer Tavern instead of calling the Quest chat line (like I usually do on weekends) and let's just say - I might never be calling Quest again. Boy oh boy, the food, the staff, the skeeball. It's a dream come true.

User

The drink are very well balanced as the sense of the large variety of beverages menu. The tuna taco was delicious although the chip/taco itself could have been more rigid to be able to scoop the tuna and the fillings.

User

Stopped in had a beer and stayed longer then I expected great place great staff

User

Bartender was very interesting to talk to, and seemed to be having a good time. Good atmosphere, music was a little all over the map. I did feel very welcome though, lots of staff smiling

User

Went prior to concert at Rogers as it is a convenient location. Had the pound if wings dressing was runny and tasteless (ranch!). Decided on the GP hefeweizen but was disappointed as it tasteed like any other beer asked to change and had a Shock Top Belgian White again very average and not sure if they look after their beer very well? Service was reasonable and was not charged for first beer, which was just as well as I had not drunk it before it was removed! Will probable stick to bottled beer if drinking here again.

User

My friend and I arrived at Mercer Tavern, tonight, prior to attending an Oil Kings game, next door at Rogers Place.

I am confined to a wheelchair, so I called earlier in the day to confirm this place was accessible. I was informed there was, indeed, a ramp - in the back lane.

Much to my chagrin, I later found out the ramp was not the easiest to use. I required help to get up on it, because the railing was placed too far up at the start of the ramp.

As well, the metal landing, in front of the back door, had no safety rail around it. When opening the door, I had to carefully watch how far back I went back, as to not go over!

Once inside, I found it easy to maneuver around the lounge. Only one problem, no chairs and tables at my level - except a room normally booked for large groups for parties. We placed there.

The service was good. The food was okay. Although, we were wondering if the burger patty was fresh or frozen? Just way too uniform! The fries were burned.

So, all in all, our experience wasn't one of the best ones!

User

I was disgusted with the food offered here. The ribs were awful. Seemed like it was just pork belly cut to imitate ribs. Draft beer tasted off. McDonald's does better food.

User

Book a reservation for 30 people for Saturday night 6 weeks ago and confirmed it on Friday. Showed up and they had "lost" the reservation. My assumption is that they forgot it was fight night and gave our table away. Acting manager tried to accommodate but they was clearly nothing to be done at that point. Very upset as a lot of time and effort went into planning the event. Should have read the previous post about not book at large party there! Will not be going back.

User

Went for a meal prior to a concert and met some friends. The place is very quaint and has some great decor. The poutine dish we ordered was extremely salty to the point where we didn't finish it. The biggest issue was the service. The place was badly understaffed as it was full due to the concert. What we ordered which wasn't a big meal took a long time to get back to us and the waitress only appeared at our table once aside from the original order and then to deliver the food. We were there from 5:30 to 7:00. We won't be back to the place.

User

The manager was a jerk, tried to get in with my dad who is double the age. He is 60 and the manager said there was nothing he could do. I would definitely not recommend this place! Way better bars in edmonton!! I think the manager should be fired!! When I said I wanted to complain he said he was the manager and to go ahead and leave a negative

YELP review and that he didn’t care at all. Horrible customer service to accommodate someone who’s BEYOND legal to get in!

User

Shitty service, food came back cold, got someones chewed up gum on my pants. Asked for butter/oil to remove it TWICE, only to be ignored for half hour. Finally got what I asked for (used/cooked oil). Cleaned up half the chewed up gum from the bar island, got no thank you or apology. This place is disgusting & needs better service.

User

Ordered a game day dog. When it came out it was as hard as a rock. No moisture left in the thing. I sent it back and the waitress said they are pre cooked early in the day and reheated. Who re heats sausages? They take a mere 10 mins tops to cook.

User

On Thursday night we went to Mercers. At the door, we were told there was no cover charge, so we went in. When we got to where we have to show ID, all of the sudden we have to pay a cover charge. When I asked about that, the girl at the door said "we just started asking a cover charge right now". I don't know why she would do that as soon as I get to the door. Anyone owning this bar wanting to explain this to me? I'd sure love to hear about this, especially as I don't live in Edmonton and was visiting. Probably won't go back unless I hear from this place.

User

I made reservations for a group of 10-15 guests for 7:00. We got there at 7:00 and they said that our reservations are not till 8:00 and another group is using the room we are reserved for. I looked back in my emails with the manager when I booked this and he clearly stated that our reservations were going to be at 7:00. I showed them the email and all they said was "oops that's a fuck up" and they still made us wait till 8:00 without doing anything about it. They gave us coupons and a free shot but they did not accommodate to anything. The service sucked the whole night even when we got seated and the drinks sucked. But the food was really good. But everything else was a let down, the plan was to stay at the tavern all night but it was such a disappointment that we left after our meal. Don't book reservations here and don't take a big group here, all you'll get is disappointment.

User

I experienced horrible service here, it took my friends and I 20 minutes to get drinks. The bartenders ignored us, when they got our drinks wrong they made a huge issue and didn’t wanna make us new drinks. The bartender threw drink coasters at us from across the room and gave us an ignorant attitude. One of the bartenders told us to go f ourselves and this was a male bartender saying this to a group of females. He yelled us for not giving him a tip because of his horrible service. I’m very upset and disgusted by the service i got at mercer. when i told the security about our situation and how we wanted to speak to the manager the security did nothing but give us a blank stare. I told the bartender as well I wanted to speak to the manager but the bartender replied “ I could get the bartender but I’m not” he walked and laughed. I’m so disgusted by the service and from all this they bar banned me and friends. I will never return to this place again. Also they ignored me and my friends because of our skin color and how we were not white and just treated us different from other customers.

What we ordered which wasn't a big meal took a long time to get back to us and the waitress only appeared at our table once aside from the original order and then to deliver the food. We were there from 5:30 to 7:00. We won't be back to the place.

Ordered a game day dog. When it came out it was as hard as a rock. No moisture left in the thing. I sent it back and the waitress said they are pre cooked early in the day and reheated. Who re heats sausages? They take a mere 10 mins tops to cook.

Mariah was a great time. Made drinks perfect and made the entire atmosphere great. 10/10 would go again, only if she is working though haha.

Great tavern burger! Excellent selection of drinks and food. Get there early on game days though!

Great service and spectacular food!!

Came to Mercer Tavern instead of calling the Quest chat line (like I usually do on weekends) and let's just say - I might never be calling Quest again. Boy oh boy, the food, the staff, the skeeball. It's a dream come true.

The drink are very well balanced as the sense of the large variety of beverages menu. The tuna taco was delicious although the chip/taco itself could have been more rigid to be able to scoop the tuna and the fillings.

Stopped in had a beer and stayed longer then I expected great place great staff

User

Bartender was very interesting to talk to, and seemed to be having a good time. Good atmosphere, music was a little all over the map. I did feel very welcome though, lots of staff smiling

I was disgusted with the food offered here. The ribs were awful. Seemed like it was just pork belly cut to imitate ribs. Draft beer tasted off. McDonald's does better food.
