We are now serving our home made dessert, Pumpkin Mont Blanc, The curated dessert has layer of pumpkin cream, chestnut cream, whipped cream caramelized chestnut and some flavor of rum... Limited quantity till this coming Wednesday.

We got 23lb of fresh Yellowtail today. But not just regular Yellowtail this is a Cold yellowtail !! The yellowtail is a migratory fish in the order Pereiformes and the family Carangidae. The cold yellowtail, which go south for the winter, contain more fat. We can enjoy to eat Sashimi, Nigiri or grilled(limited).... Try our more fatty Yellowtail!

The staff are friendly and the food comes to you in a timely fashion. Love the atmosphere as well and I love love their private rooms where it is designed just like in the Asian countries !

For one dish... we decided to try something different... which turned out to be a little too different for our taste buds. The owner recognized this on our faces and came out and made us something else. He was very sweet and wouldn’t take no for an answer... and even brought us some Japanese plum wine to try! We’ll for sure be back!

Last Monday we enjoyed another fabulous meal at Mikado (west end). The BFT Otoro and Chutoro were off the chart. I told our server the story of our first meal at Mikado in 1975 !!!! So it's been 42 years of great dining. As Karma would have it I have made my living in Japan for 30+ years, and I will be bringing one of my Nagoya customers to Mikado (south side) later this week. It is a testament to Mikado's long standing adherence to quality food and service that my Japanese customers invariably rank Mikado as the best Japanese cuisine in Western Canada. Congratulations Okumiya-san for decades of excellence.

Husband and I have been here a couple times and each time it has been amazing. Stellar service, delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere. The last time we went I had asked about trying sake for the first time and our waitress recommended a nice cold one. It was very very tasty and can't wait to try all of their sake now.

This will be our regular Japanese restaurant from here on out!

From the host staff who greeted us on the way in, to the wait staff who served our meal and explained to us the careful preparation of bluefish tuna, sashimi, sushi and akami, we were delighted with our recent visit to Mikado.



The sushi platters and entrees (chicken teriyaki, in this case) are flavourful, plentiful and, with rice and miso as starters, more than satisfying, delivering incredible food value for the price.



Our server Christina was most attentive, and no one batted an eye over my embarrassment at needing to ask for chopsticks. (Thank you, Ivan.)



Highly recommended for excellent service, food quality and presentation, and atmosphere.

The food is great! I'm not gonna go into details, I'm only going to write why I gave four stars.



The service. I love Mikado, your food is fresh, your cooks are great, but there had been 3 different instances last year I went and felt completely neglected by wait staff. All three times no one ever offered me a water refill. I had called out for a waitress one time and she just nodded as if she MIGHT come back but was busy, but never came back.



One of those times, I waited HALF AN HOUR after FINISHING my food for someone to come by and offer me a water refill and I wanted to order more sushi, but no body came. No one asked how my meal was going, no one offered me a drink, I had to literally INSIST to an individual that I just wanted the bill and wanted to go home because of how heartbroken I am.



Please don't neglect your customers guys, your food is great, but you guys need to try and not forget about people.

The Salmon Sushi Pizza was tasty. I was happy to see one of my fav servers there. He is always pleasant.

normally mikado is our place to go for sushi. sometimes we dine in and other times we order take out.



we tried to make a reservation tonight but it was completely booked which is understandable since it’s valentine’s day. since they were completely booked we decided to order take out.



we called the restaurant just after 5pm with a pick up time of 6:30pm. they had over an hour to make the order. when we went to pick up the order, there was no order.



the person we took the order did not write it down and claims we did not call. when we showed her the phone number and time the call was placed, she denied it being her that answered the phone. she then claims not knowing who took the order. she then proceeds to tell us they can make the order in 45 minutes.



we asked if they would offer us a discount cause we have been inconvenienced for not having our order and then to wait in the car for 45 minutes while they make our order she refused.



we left very frustrated!
