Wonderful place my friend wanted me to check out while visiting her in Calgary. Nice atmosphere, great service, clean. And Matty Simpson was playing for the night with fantastic music that I now enjoy listening to in the car for the rest of my travels as I head to BC.

I would totally go back and fully recommend this place to anyone in or visiting Calgary!

User

Went to Tommy Castro and the Painkillers on friday nite. The place was busy, standing room only. Considering how many people were there service was quite good. They found tables and chairs for a good number of people so we could grab a bite to eat. Food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Nice cozy venue to catch a show. Staff was first rate, we'll be back

User

This is a great spot to catch a Saturday afternoon jam, each time we come, the place is full of great people, the atmosphere is lively, the music outstanding. The way staff are friendly and attentive. We have tried a variety of items on the menu, and have always been very pleased! They are delicious, fresh, and well plated. We are often surprised by the creativeness of the meals and they are a good value. Last night we tried the cheesecake, easily feeds two, wish I had a picture! The Patio Limenado is wonderful, like a vacation in a glass, as is the coffee. We are going to try to plan our walks so we can drop in for lunch, and hope to get out to more nights of music, as it can be enjoyed almost every night. You really should come to this warm and inviting spot soon.

User

The music was stellar as were the food, drinks staff and service. Great sight lines and plenty of room. The bathroom is clean (more than I can say for other clubs in this town).

User

Kudos to Mikey for bringing fabulous live music to Calgary on a regular basis! It's the place to hear original music from the best musicians!

User

Highly Diggable !!!!! Mikey's has a vibe that makes me feel kinda like I feel when I'm the Southern USA . Music always playing , artists performing every day , sometimes thrice !!! There is a variety of music playing all day 'n' night with the tunes picked from the good music catalogue . Earthy , Rootsy, & always Soulf . The food is OUT OF THIS WORLD ! Fish Tacos to die for ! Man I wanna go right now for breakfast ( even though it's 12:42 ) . That's it , I can't sit here & talk about it anymore. I'm going ..... I know I'll be greeted With big smiles when I get there too . That always feels cool . Yeah !!! Like I said , Highly Diggable . đź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ť

Great music, great layout, great food and great people. Can't beat the Central location.

User

Great food and staff. Love the talent that comes through that place

User

Another fun night at Mikey’s!You feel like you’re in New Orleans! Service is amazing- the staff take really good care of you, lots of great music, interesting people- it can’t be beat!

User

An awesome time at Tommy Castro and the Painkillers Saturday night. A great atmosphere, great service and great people!

User

Wandered in on a beautiful Monday evening and were able to find a spot on the patio right away. Fantastic live music throughout the duration of our experience, which was a nice change for Calgary. It is hard to find a good live music spot during the week and be able to sit on the patio at the same time! We tried the pork tacos and the chicken enchiladas and were impressed- fresh ingredients, authentic mexican cuisine, very flavourful, and good value! Can't wait to try more menu items when we return next. The only reason I didn't rate our experience a 5 star was because the service was quite slow. However, they are brand new and still working out the kinks so I'm hopeful that it will be better next time. All in all, a great dinner. This place has big potential!

User

Drink and food Prices are too high. Services is slow and inexperienced(though very polite). Music is good but too loud for my taste. Cover charge isn't always in place but when it is it is for a music venue. If you are not there for the band, $15-$20 is quite expensive.

Edit: came back here and much happier with the price. My original gripe was about paying $10.40 for a can of cider. There is now cider on tap for $7.25. That is very reasonable and in line with the neighbourhood. I've adjusted my rating accordingly.

Staff was also much much quicker!

User

1st Visit this afternoon, Tim Williams was the host of the Jam with special guests the guy that really stood out was Mike Watson , what a performer , food was good and the service was excellent. We will be back

User

First time at this location, as always, great music and great sound. Unfortunately our waitress looked and acted like she would rather be anywhere but here. Service was beyond slow and she seemed to disappear for half the night. Everything else about the venue and the night was great, too bad she had to ruin the evening.

User

Went for the Burlesque show on Sunday. The show seemed better organized at the new location and the ladies who performed were top notch as always. The service, on the other hand, was well below what I have come to expect from Mikey's. I don't know if it's because they are still finding their feet at the new location or they weren't prepared for the turn out or what. Either way, the food was good but not worth the poor service and exceptionally long wait. I was also disappointed to find that while going there for Beer, Bacon and Boobs, there was only one breakfast item available from menu. Seemed odd. Thank goodness for the great performances to keep the sounds of our empty glasses and growling stomachs from disturbing anyone around us.

User

Ran out of the beer on special by 9 o'clock and no coolers either..... Are you a bar? I guess you have music to keep you open.

User

My first visit was soured by the unexpected $15 pp cover charge last night. I was told that “it’s a music venue and we’re going to be busy tonight. The ATM is over there.” I have relatives visiting from England and they were jet lagged otherwise we would have left. I wanted to show them some local talent but ended up paying $60 in cover charge alone. If it’s going to be busy, you’ll make more money in food/drink sales... the wings were a little fatty and the breading was spongy. The cover band was ok in the second half. Our server was great, one saving grace. Not coming back here.

User

I have to say that I cannot give a very good recommendation for this place. I have been there twice and will not go back, which is unfortunate as it's directly across the street from my work.

Our first visit - the food took approximately 50 minutes to receive and we only have a 1 hour lunch break. The food was delicious though, so I thought that since it was just new, I'd give it another chance.

Our second visit - The food came out fast (normal time like we would expect), but the fries were soggy and bland and the Steak Sandwich that my friend ordered was rare, not Med rare – she had to send it back. Therefore, I sat there eating with her not having any food, which was uncomfortable. Also, I paid $4.00 for a pop, then the waitress asked me if I wanted a refill and charged me another $1.25, but didn't tell me there was a charge to refill, it was just on my bill. Charging $5.25 for 2 pop is excessive.

So, after these 2 disappointing experiences, I will not return.

The music was stellar as were the food, drinks staff and service. Great sight lines and plenty of room. The bathroom is clean (more than I can say for other clubs in this town).

Kudos to Mikey for bringing fabulous live music to Calgary on a regular basis! It's the place to hear original music from the best musicians!

First time at this location, as always, great music and great sound. Unfortunately our waitress looked and acted like she would rather be anywhere but here. Service was beyond slow and she seemed to disappear for half the night. Everything else about the venue and the night was great, too bad she had to ruin the evening.

Ran out of the beer on special by 9 o'clock and no coolers either..... Are you a bar? I guess you have music to keep you open.
