Move Studios

Dear Dancers and Dance Enthusiasts,
It is with some sadness, that I announce the closing of Move Studios July 1, 2018. I'm pregnant (again!) and our family is expecting this third bundle of joy in November! Experience has shown me how much time and energy a new baby takes, and at this stage in my life, it seems right to let my "studio baby" go.
... Teaching belly dance, such an amazing art form, for 14 years has been an absolute pleasure. Over the past few years though, it has become a challenge to balance the time and energy needs of my successful chiropractic practice, the studio, our two young children and many other interests and commitments. Without the help of the Edmonton dance community, and especially the fabulous Miss Kelly, I know I would not have been able to navigate through this delicate balance for as long as I have.
In the short term, I look forward to some extra breathing room in an enjoyable but hectic schedule, more time with my children while they are young, and the flexibility to explore dance and music solely as a creative outlet for myself. I hope that after some time, the call to choreograph and teach will bring me back into a studio near you.
Thank you to those who have been students, worked with me, taught me, and inspired me to be a better dancer. I am so grateful to know such wonderful, helpful, creative and caring people.
Thank you for allowing me to share in your dance journey and I wish you continued joy in whatever direction dance takes you.

Belly dance is women’s art. It is truly an expression of feminine joy, creativity, wisdom, and strength. Not to mention, it’s fun! The dance is derived from the inherent movement of the feminine form. In a way you could say we were born to belly dance! Yet somehow with all the bustle of modern-day demands, expectations, and unending distractions, we’ve lost touch with ourselves. Our roots, spirits, and bodies yearn to be rediscovered. Belly dance helps to breathe life back into the dormant areas through movement, shaking, dancing, and celebrating the feminine form in all her glorious shapes, sizes, ages, and seasons.
