Why are our oils not labeled "Organic"
These are the countries that have an organic labeling system. USA, Canada, Europe, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Australia, China, India, Japan and Singapore.
Only 16 countries have any sort of organic certification. Each country that DOES have an organic labeling system in place has their OWN criteria that needs to be met for a product to qualify, and in all those countries, the o...rganic seal does not automatically mean pesticide free, (including the US) as many pesticides are allowed in organic certified products.
The USA recently joined (November of 2015) with Sweden and agreed to honor each others organic certification. That simply means we do not recognize any of the other 15 countries organic standard, and they don't recognize ours.
So, the ONLY products that can carry the USDA organic seal in the USA are products that go through the USDA certification process. Even a company as large as Young Living would go bankrupt if they tried to get every single oil that is sold in the USA and every other country that has their own organic standards - certified organic. AND then turn around and do that with every single batch of oil, every single time an oil is distilled.
The organic seal unfortunately no longer means what we think it means.

💧Young Living’s NHP registered oils will have a Natural Product Number (NPN) that will appear on the label. Which according to Health Canada’s website means, “... that the product has been authorized for sale in Canada and is safe and effective when used according to the instructions on the label.”
In addition, NHP registered oils will display an expiration date. Young Living Canada’s NHP oils are currently registered under a three year expiry.
Rest assured, there has been no change to the raw materials used to create our essential oils, or the way our oils are distilled, bottled, stored, or shipped. However, the registration of oils as NHPs means the addition of an expiry is required to ensure we meet all Health Canada requirements.
