Nature'S Hideaway Family Campground

About Nature'S Hideaway Family Campground

Surrounded by the Highwood River and just 20 minutes South East of Calgary, Nature's Hideaway is home to 100 yr old Cottonwood Poplar trees, spread over 36 acres with serviced sites.

Nature'S Hideaway Family Campground Description

Nature's Hideaway is nearly surrounded by the Highwood River as it flows to the North. Fishermen will like to know that a 400m walk down stream will bring you to the confluence of the Highwood and Bow rivers. Fishing can be amazing early in the (fishing) season.
The Highwood River becomes warm and invites all for swimming, especially July through September. It's gentle current makes for a relaxing tube ride.
We are so thankful to have our gates open for camping again! The grounds and structures were completed devastated in the Great Flood of 2013. We've come a long way and will continue to improve. We're grateful for the support of our loyal campers and excited to host many new ones .
Check us out! Set up camp for the family under the canopy of 100-year old Cottonwood Poplar trees and enjoy the summer outside. We'd love to see you out here!

Hey Friends- Please take a second to look at this picture. We’re hoping someone may have seen this missing dog, Sadie, on their way to or from the campground. Perhaps along Dunbow Road or anywhere along the way. Thank you!

The weather looks great for the weekend AND the fire ban has been lifted!

User

Horray! 😀

User

this camp ground is the best the staff are absolutely wonderful they go out of their way to make sure everyone is having a great time I would and have recommended this camp ground to several people. A special shout out to Brianna and Kevin thanks for always making us welcome will be returning

This is the the 5th year of being a seasonal at Nature's Hideaway. They staff have gone over and above what is expected of them and I will be returning for years to come. Anything that I have had a problem with it a question, they did there beat to fix it or answer it in a very timely manner. Considering how far this campground has come since the flood, everyone should be applauded for the amount of work involved to get this campground up and running and enjoyable for families again. Thank you Kevin and Stacy and Frank (and others) for all that you do! WTG!

This campground is so much fun. They treat you like family and go above and beyond. Great place to go for short or long term camping. I love this place. The owner Stacey is so kind and loving.

User

Such a great little hidden campground. Was sad when it closed after the floods. Didn't realize it had reopened a few years later. Very friendly staff seems more like family and always help to accomadate us with our special needs son and specific sites that he likes. We love this place and it's so close yet seems so far away.

User

Our first experience was when a fire ban was on which kinda bummed us out but the manager and staff made it memorable and helped make it a great experience for my kids which is the most important. great beach area.... just phenomenal for a family to go and have no worries, we will definitely be going back again and again

User

User

Don't go here! !!!!! Leave it all for me!!!!!!!!!!

User

Best kept secret ever!!! This is our 2nd year as a seasonal, the beauty that surrounds the campground is breathtaking, being so close to Calgary we are able to come out for evening dinners and enjoy the peaceful and quiet surroundings.. The staff is top notch, friendly and accommodating... not to mention fun!! Floating down the river for an hour and a half or two hours is probably the highlight of our weekends! With all our friends and family! And having live bands on the beach for the long weekends and outdoor movies is way better than staying home and watching TV!!!

User

Awesome August Long weekend, great entertainment..lots of fun! The staff are the best; friendly, fun and quick to help out as needed.

User

As always my family and friends had a wonderful time at this campground. We can't wait to go back and look forward to many more summers here.

User

Just spent the last weekend of September at stall 70 washrooms were clean, Sani dump was free everybody was friendly love this place.

User

Great family campground lots of fun things for kids to do!!

User

Worst campground I have ever been to. Extremely strict rules. They say 11pm is "quiet time" but to them that actually means go to bed or you're kicked out. They will kick you out then call rcmp if you don't leave fast enough. Rudest staff I have ever dealt with. They discriminate against age, so if you're not part of a family they will take advantage of that and blame every single problem at the campground on you and you're group. I highly recommend to never visit this campsite.

User

Terrible first time experience, campsites are way to close to each other so you can't even sit around the fire and have a good time without complaints about bad "language" got kicked out the first night without a warning. I paid for the whole weekend I couldn't get a refund which is a joke because we left as soon as we were told to do so and cleaned up after ourselves. My friends were going to pay for a night pass before it was even 8pm but couldn't because of the complaints. Told the staff that they can't drive home cause they have had a few drinks, the staff says "take the chance" thankgod they had a ride home. so disgusted with this place and the staff. The first red flag was when they tried making the people bringing our trailer out pay $10 even though they were leaving in half an hour. No wonder your reviews are bad. Should've read them before we went out. Hope they don't do this to anybody else.

My daughter & I went to visit my youngest daughter at Natures Hideaway, at 8:04pm taking her some buns & smokys, DROVE 50 MINS ROUND TRIP.

THEY WON'T LET US IN, THEY SAID 8pm THE GATE CLOSES. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. I WAS SO DISSAPPOINTED, I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FAMILY PARK!!!! THEY FINALLY LET US IN TO QUICKLY DROP THE BUNS & SMOKY OFF. LIKE SERIOUSLY. IM A 50 YR OLD FATHER & WANTED ON THE LONG WEEKEND TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH MY DAUGHTERS. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT BACK IN THIS PLACE & WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW THE WAY WE WERE TREATED AT THE GATE.

In my opinion... Great site for people over 50 ONLY.

Also, great site for people with bellies like Randy from Trailer Park Boys who like to scream swears out of their window at 11:01 PM and threaten to beat people up like an angry 2013 Gucci Mane. Most of the complaints you claim you got were probably people confused over his yelling, and thinking it must have been the 20 year-old.

That's what happens when you let grumpy Bad Santa looking characters stay at your site. Guys who are pissed off because they can hear inside voice-volume conversations through paper thin trailer walls 10 feet away from campsites beside them.

Also, when you hired security, did you train them on not driving golf carts drunk in the middle of the night? Sad part was he was the most sensible sounding voice out of all the staff I had the pleasure of speaking with.

User

If I could give it a zero I would!! Terrible place sites not suitable for our unit and they still kept my money!!! Glad we did not stay lady in front of us in line bought an arm full of mosquito sprays and repellent!!! Nice way to generate your revenue provide no service.
