Orange Shirt Day at NorQuest College, an important day of recognition and reconciliation.

NorQuest College has been a proven leader in diversity and inclusion for many years. That leadership is now stronger thanks to an incredible $1 million donation from Dr. S. Ann Colbourne, chair of the NorQuest College Board of Governors.
The Colbourne Institute for Inclusive Leadership provides a broad range of training services that encourage and support organizational capacity in developing and sustaining inclusive cultures.
Yesterday, we celebrated this generous gift and l...aunched our #InvestInInclusion campaign.
“I have a deeply-held passion for the agenda of diversity,” says Dr. Colbourne. “As a college, NorQuest really helps shape the mosaic of the communities it serves. It honours and respects where individuals come from, but still creates a cohesive whole.”

We are at a critical time where loud, negative, and polarizing forces focus on things that divide us, rather than those that make us stronger together; where the overwhelming proof of the benefits of inclusion can be dismissed as “fake news” when it threatens the status quo of historical privilege.
We live in a multicultural, multifaceted world where we all have unique backgrounds, experiences, stories, and talents. Diversity represents all the ways in which we differ, from t...he visible to the not so visible. But, it’s not enough to just be diverse. We must do more than just recognize and tolerate differences. We must INVEST in inclusion.

Yesterday NorQuest College celebrated two things: Indigenous Day of Welcome and an amazing $250,000 gift from the RBC Foundation.
RBC’s latest gift supports three important programs at NorQuest: the RBC Indigenous Mentorship Program, the RBC Student Ambassador Program, and the RBC & NorQuest College Creating Co-Op Experiences Program.
We’re also thrilled to announce that the Indigenous Mentorship Program – already such a great success at our Edmonton campus – will be expanded to our Wetaskiwin campus in the near future.

This college just helped my best friend karolina graduate the nursing program. You really turned her into someone very special. Thank you so much norquest. If I had the choice back in 2001 of going to college it would be norquest without a doubt.

User

I really enjoyed going to NorQuest College in Edmonton it was so much fun and the new building was nice and huge but beautiful

I graduated from the Unit Clerk Program summer of 2014. It was a great experience - challenging but so rewarding. My instructors were amazing - so caring and approachable. Communication was a bit of an issue. I had to stay in close contact with my classmates to stay on top of things - like registering for graduation? I was waiting and waiting for my diploma only to find out that I needed to register to graduate (?!)... But other than that I highly recommend this program! The only thing that I would not recommend would be distance learning. It seemed like quite a challenge and again poor communication - hopefully that has changed.

Best school I've ever been to! I've tried many different ways to complete my education after dropping out of high school 8 years ago. This college has made it possible for me to understand Mathematic's like no other could. If you need to complete your high school upgrading this is definitely the school to do it. Office staff and Student Association are always helpful when you need something. Awesome college, I'd highly recommend.

User

I went to this school for HCA-PLAR program in 2017. My teacher, Emily was very helpful and knowledgeable. She was very helpful during exam and on the laboratory class. She answer questions promptly. Thank you, Ms. Emily! The Registrar Staffs are somewhat disorganized. Sometimes send you to a wrong person so you end up going back again to them to clarify things. Communications take time. You need to call few more times to get to the right person. Other than that, I never had a problem with graduation information, tickets and transcript. The registrar tell you if you ask. The student assistance staffs were very helpful, too. Thank you.

User

Mixed review. I love the option for online courses (currently enrolled in the hospital unit clerk program), but I absolutely despise the fact that when enrolled in online courses, you still have to do group projects and still have to find a way to flex to someone else's schedule. So even after a 12 hour night shift, I have to stay awake to chat with my partner.

I also didn't feel like the professors were there to support the students or offer much help. Emailing proved to do almost nothing, and calling resulted in more frustration and still no answers.

If I was able to at the time of enrolment, I probably would have looked into other college options.

User

You have to send all admission requests by email, which can take up to a week to be addressed. You can call, but every time I called....I had to leave a message because no one answered the phone. I don’t understand the costing of courses and when I’ve called and asked.... no one can explain it to me. The anatomy and physiology courses are $528, which includes $200 of fees. When I ask what the $200 in fees are I don’t get an explanation. I can take a 3 credit course at the university of lethbridge for $560 all fees included and that’s a university course not college. I requested to withdraw from norquest a week ago and I’m still waiting for a reply. I’ve never been to a post secondary institution where it can take a week or more to reach admissions.

User

They do not reply to inquiries regarding refunds, even after I have sent several voicemail or emails. I did get a response right away here in Facebook.Kiss your $400 deposit goodbye even though you withdrew before the course started.

User

Really dissppointed with the registrar services. Everytime I visit there, after hours of wait, I get to meet the person who has as much infirmation as me and is not very friendly or courteous in her way of interaction. Luckily, the instructors I got are healpful.

Thanks.

User

Poor communication and by poor I mean POOR! Maybe they do not want students to attend there college I cant really figure out why they wouldn't return phone calls of prospective students, they don't contact you after you write there assessment exams, the departments have no clue how other departments operate, and you get conflicting information from one person to the next. I just wanted to get going with my schooling but I have yet to accomplish that and I applied in march. I have talked to a few people who act like they are passing on my info to the head of the department and I have yet to hear from them. I do not recommend this college.

User

Overall I just had a terrible experience. In the end I just felt as though it was a money grab unfortunately as they let me pay for my convocation and attend, just to get kicked out from my course 3 days before I was officially done the hca course. When I asked if I could retake the clinical portion, I was told I would have to repay my second semesters tuition again (which I cannot afford and refuse to pay after all of this). Also, when I asked about refunds, the guy on the other end LAUGHED and said that there was nothing I could do and 'this is the way thngs are'. And when I call the school I never get an answer, and they wanted me to fill out paperwork, but I still have not received a call back (which means I probaby will not get my tuition back). Just very discouraged after all of the comments throughout saying I wouldn't make it in this field by various people in the school, and all of the other hateful comments as well. Honestly not worth anyones time.

User

Never answer the phone, give you teachers that cant speak English, was told by a teacher that a hospital will never hire me because I had knee surgery and that there are many other healthier people applying so I'll never get a job. When the entire class made a complaint about the teacher not being able to speak English and everybody have a hard time learning they did nothing about it. If you even get sick and miss one day of your clinical they threaten to kick you out. Because they dont seem to realize that you have a life outside of school and stuff happens that's unexpected. Pretty much to say the least this was my first time going to college and I hated it and would never go back and never suggest norquest to anybody and dont even get me started on trying to call and everything going to voicemail no matter how many times you call and how many different areas of the school you call.

User

If there ever was a school to avoid like the plague, this would be it. So disorganized it's mind boggling, and extreme inconsistency with the teaching staff. Continuing onto nursing from HCA and there's no way I would do it here.

Anyone looking is better to travel further and get the time and attention you deserve for the money and time you're putting in.

User

I will always regret joining this college.. People sitting in the registrar office are extremely unwilling to understand your concerns and will feed you the same information that you already knew from College website. They will disappoint you in the all possible ways they can and don’t value your time .

User

I paid online for one course and was charged twice for it. There is no information available as to who to contact should this happen. I call on Monday and the operator transfers me to someone’s voicemail. My call was not returned. I call today and am informed by the operator that since I paid online all I can do is send an email, there is no one for me to talk to directly. Terrible customer service! I can just imagine how long it’s going to take to get my money back.

User

I found this school to be extremely disorganized. It took forever to get in touch with people - phoning meant I always had to leave a message, no one answered emails, and when I finally did get ahold of a person, the office of the registrar couldn't answer questions about how to enrol in online classes.

No one thought to mention to me that all labs and exams had to be completed in Edmonton even though they knew I was from Calgary. Their "partner" school informed me that they wouldn't proctor exams, which made me question why they even had a partner school in Calgary. Turns out this info was buried on a webpage (thank goodness my mom saw it) and yet info on enrolling in classes was nowhere to be found on any site anywhere.

I think the instructors might be great people but I honestly never got that far. I also don't think it's the fault of any of the staff - I think they are spread too thin and are horrifically understaffed. Unfortunately that translates into a terrible experience for any prospective student. Don't waste your time or your money: look around and find a school where you can actually talk to a person, where the information you need is on their website, and where they recognize the importance of clear communication on the administrative side of things!

User

I don't even know where to start...but do not go to this school, they are charging waayyyyy too much money compared to other schools in Alberta.

I applied for the 2017 fall term online LPN Program in October, I paid the $400.00 deposit because They pressure you to do it because you only have 15 days before you can do your class, if you don't pay on the 15th you don't get in, So I paid got all ready to take the class and realized that they wanted $1500.00 for one class, which as a mother of 2 I could not afford, so I dropped the class and expected to receive a refund on my $400.00 deposit, they told me I was not getting my Refund because I was not within the 30 days of my program start date.I signed up October 24,2017 the 30 days prior I would have to have been signed up before September 1,2017 So now I am out $400 and no idea what to do because I have worked very hard to become a nurse and they are hindering my learning and not being supportive in any way. The policy needs to be changed, I know I am not the only person that this has happened to and I think it needs to be more public that this school is stealing money from people who are just trying to better their lives. instead of encouraging students, Norquest you are very discouraging. All I want is my $400.00 back so I can continue my schooling at Bow Valley College. But if anyone else has had this problem please message me, I think we should make it as public as possible and go to a news outlet with the story because this can not be legal. And why does the government give this school so much money......some serious issues that need to be fixed.

User

I agree this college is the lowest level education ,and all the student know that

special ESL because most of them are funded. the teachers don't ave ability to explain , and if you complain no one listen to you .I don't know who can be behind the poor student.

User

Do not attend this school. This is the worst school to ever deal with. I was registered online doing courses , many times throughout my course they had to shut down there online system (moodle) for server errors. At the beginning of May I could not access my moodle account anymore. I left voicemail and emails with no responses. My courses ended May 24th and still had no access to them. I then have to ask for extension for my course because I could not get access to , for also they are claiming they are not going to pay for them extension, it is now June 1st and I finally get an email of two other departments I have to email to MAYBE get back into my courses. Any advice do not attend this school it is a money grab and horrible horrible communication. I will make this known the every site and every person that mentions NorQuest.

They do not reply to inquiries regarding refunds, even after I have sent several voicemail or emails. I did get a response right away here in Facebook.Kiss your $400 deposit goodbye even though you withdrew before the course started.

Really dissppointed with the registrar services. Everytime I visit there, after hours of wait, I get to meet the person who has as much infirmation as me and is not very friendly or courteous in her way of interaction. Luckily, the instructors I got are healpful.

Thanks.

I will always regret joining this college.. People sitting in the registrar office are extremely unwilling to understand your concerns and will feed you the same information that you already knew from College website. They will disappoint you in the all possible ways they can and don’t value your time .

I agree this college is the lowest level education ,and all the student know that

special ESL because most of them are funded. the teachers don't ave ability to explain , and if you complain no one listen to you .I don't know who can be behind the poor student.
