NIHA is dedicated to improving the lives of Indigenous people through raising awareness of STIs, HIV, Hep C, testing, prevention, and providing support to people living with.

We offer a safe space and welcome all people.

Northern Indigenous Health Alliance - Hiv Outreach In Alberta'S North Description

The Northern Indigenous Health Alliance (NIHA, pronounced nee-yah) is northern Alberta's next step in HIV outreach and awareness. Our team offers safer sex and harm reduction info and resources out of Sagitawa Friendship Centre, Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, High Level Native Friendship Centre and Kimamow Atoskanow, an Indigenous AIDS service organization in Sandy Beach.

We do community outreach in across the north, including:
1) Education in schools
2) Youth programming
3) Offer connection to traditional ceremony and medicines.
4) Resource Library with information on STIs, and Blood-borne pathogens (BBP’s), including HIV and Hepatitis C.
5) Provide support for people living with HIV and Hepatitis C.
6) Positive and educational programming in correctional facilities.
7) Awareness and cultural events.
