We're excited to announce our holiday contest this year, and spread the message that 'Tis the Season to Shop Local'! Shopping locally in ANY store (we love our chains too...) helps out a local business owner, their staff, and the community around them. We've got tons of philanthropic businesses in our 'hood that pay it forward by donating their time and services to worthy causes! We want to pay it forward to YOU by giving Old Strathcona patrons the chance to win one of THREE ...great Old Strathcona Experience Packages:
Here's how to enter:
1. Shop (or eat, play, or stay) at your favourite Old Strathcona business
2. Snap a selfie of you inside of the business. If you're shy, take a pic of your favourite thing!
3. Share your pic (and where you found it) with @oldstrathcona on Twitter or Instagram using #ShopLocalGiveBack
4. For an EXTRA entry, let us know why you absolutely love that business or something that that business does to give back to the community!
Contest runs from November 22, 2018 until January 6, 2019. Winners will be announced on Monday, January 7!

Have you taken a look at the former Edmonton Aveda Academy lately? It's had a bit of a makeover, and is now the gorgeous Avenue Salon. If you are a die-hard Aveda product junkie, never fear, they're continuing to be an Aveda salon and spa. You can still get your fix anytime you want!

If you are looking for a Remembrance Day Service to attend, there will be a ceremony in Light Horse Park on Sunday. The schedule is as follows:
10:25 - March/Parade (from Holy Trinity Church to Light Horse Park Cenotaph)... 10:45-11:25 - Ceremony at Light Horse Park
The Old Strathcona Business Association will be closed on Monday, November 12, in honour of Remembrance Day. Remember that businesses in our neighbourhood may also be observing a day in lieu on Monday - please make sure to double check hours!
