Horse Training and Sales

Are you looking for someone to train your horse? Do you want to have input in what the horse is learning? Or is your horse for sale, but you don't have time to condition and market him properly? I would be happy to help you and your horse(s)!

I have been riding and training horses for 20 + years, and have trained in various disciplines with great success. My philosophy to working with horses is to let each horse dictate the pace of the training: all horses are different and progress at a different rate, and there is no one size fits all training plan. I like to work with the goals of the owner and experience of the horse to develop a plan, and from there, it really depends on the horse as to where it will go.

I am constantly working to further my knowledge of horses, riding and their care. I have taken clinics in natural performance trimming, massage therapy, saddle fitting, and continue to take various riding clinics. Because of this, I have a well-rounded knowledge of horses, and how to deal with most issues. I have started following the techniques of a trainer named Warwick Schiller, who's motto is "make the wrong thing hard and the right thing easy". This really makes sense to horses, and I have had an incredible amount of success with these firm, but gentle methods.

I am accepting horses for all levels of training, from starting babies to finishing show horses, and everywhere in between. If you horse just needs a refresher and some schooling, I would be happy to do that as well. I also consign sales horses, and market them as your agent - I ride and condition so that the horse is in the best possibly shape and mind frame for potential buyers, as well as show the horse to the potential buyers, take videos and pictures, and market them on various sources. In addition, I would be happy to show horses that are at that stage of their training.

My background is heavily English influenced, particularly jumping and eventing, however I have also trained and shown gaming horses (barrels), pleasure horses, and started many young horses. A good foundation is the key to further success in whichever discipline you choose - I work hard to instill that in every horse I work with. I also have experience working with spooking, bolting, or other types of "problem" horses (trailering issues, etc), and am willing to take them on as well.

I prefer to book training by the month, and recommend 60-90 days for the horse to truly have a good foundation. However, depending on the horse, this can vary. I am also willing to come out to ride or school your horse on a per ride basis.

2016 Training rates are $800, including pasture board or $850 for paddock. Natural trimming is also available for an extra fee, as well as equine therapy can be arranged with an excellent therapist if required.
