Owl'S Nest Books Description
Owl's Nest Books is Calgary's oldest independent book store. We've been recommending books to Calgary readers for 40 years. Books that are worth talking about and worth reading. And worth owning.
We've long been known as the city's most informed book store. That's because all of us at the store grew up with books and our lives are better because of it. We take seriously our responsibility to pass on that love of books to a whole new generation of readers. We can recommend a great book for you, for a friend, or for your favourite young reader.
Our carefully selected books are complemented by unique gifts for adults and children including journals, greeting cards, puzzles, games, crafts and toys.
If the book you want is not currently on our shelves, we are happy to order it for you. We can even located out-of-print books to get that obscure title or old family favourite into your hands.
We're proud of Owl's Nest Books' place in Calgary's literary community. We host five book clubs in the store (2 for adults and 3 for kids and teens) and we offer a 10% discount on local book clubs' selections. We support new and established local writers by hosting book launches, readings, book signings and open mic nights.
Good books make for a healthy community. And a having a good book store around helps make that happen. We are proud to be that book store.

What an amazing store! It is definitely NOT the big "we have lots, but really nothing" stores. They have a very unique collection of books and lots from local authors. I will be going there again.
Visited to buy FURR, by Axel Howerton on his birthday, met Sarah L. Johnson, got home, read her blurb, went back to buy SUICIDE STITCH...great bookstore, great service, only 15 minutes from my home...I will be back often.
This is my favorite book store! Great selection of favourites along with the best Indies and new talent. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they host tons of events that are well run and well attended.

As an independent bookstore I can count on Owl's Nest to have a hand-picked selection of titles. Not just best-sellers but ones curated for the local market and by local authors.
They support the local writing community by hosting launches and readings as well as carrying the books.
I can't say enough good things about this place.
