Those first few days when a brand new baby comes home are some of my favorite to document. All the snuggles, the wonder from older siblings and the excitement. It was such an honor to photograph baby Patrick and his family at his newborn session. Today you can see his full session up on the blog!

When you are first starting to plan your wedding there are so many things to thinks about. Should you elope or have your wedding at home. Should you have periwinkle bridesmaids dresses or teal. Should you have vanilla or red velvet for your wedding cake. Usually one question you will get asked is if you want to do engagement photos. There shouldn't even be hesitation in your voice when you answer a big YES!!! What a year 2018 has been! From all the amazing clients I got to capture memories for, getting published on Rocky Mountain Bride, seeing my images in print for the first time in Confetti Wedding Magazine, to getting our sweet puppy Clementine, 2018 has been one for the books. It has also come to my attention that apparently I should show my butt more. Thanks to everyone who has supported me and my business this past year, and I can not wait to see what 2019 holds!

There is nothing I love more then moments like this. Right at the end of these guys couple session last week Adam asked if we could do one more photo wide with a big mountain view behind. I was happy to do this for them, little did I know he planned to drop to one knee and ask Kira to be his forever! Congrats you two! I can't wait to hear all about the weddings plans!

Seeing as we live in Canada and it doesn't look like the snow is going to me melting anytime soon I thought it would be good to chat a bit about tips to survive your winter photo shoot. Lets be serious winter is 75% of what our weather is here in Alberta so chances are you will have a winter session at some point. Winter is also a stunning time for photos if you can brave the cold. Raise your hand if you started your holiday baking early and have already had to remake some batched of things cause your family has eaten them all. This may or may not have happened to us this year. I have been testing out some new recipes, and these little beauties are definitely going to been seen on my Christmas spread this year! As a photographer I get to be a part of so many big family memories and this week I got to capture baby Patrick's newborn session. The even more amazing part of this session was 5 years ago I got to capture big sister Kaeleigh's newborn session. Watching her hold her baby brother might have just been the sweetest thing ever! Being a dog owner, lover, puppy cuddles extraordinaire and having a serious love affair for all animals, I am a huge advocate for couples, families and weddings parties to bring their fur friends to sessions with me. Last Friday I got to be a part of a very secret session. James had contacted me a couple months ago when he first started planning to propose to his long time girlfriend Tori. James & Tori have been traveling together for the last two years and have always wanted to come see the Rocky Mountains in Banff. James knew it would be the perfect place to ask Tori to marry him. On Friday morning James told Tori to get ready as he had a Christmas surprise for them. Little did she know that I was waiting for them to arrive at the edge of Grassy Lakes all set up to capture their proposal story. Today you can see their full proposal on the blog!!

Since we are just a week away from Christmas I want to know some of your holiday traditions.
Growing up with a German mom we did all our gift opening Christmas eve, and we still carry on this tradition today. Then its a lazy morning sleep in on Christmas Day (well at least for Jay and I), a giant brunch, opening of stockings, watching endless Christmas movies, being pulled on a toboggan behind a snowmobile through my parents pastures, warming up in the hot tub after so much snow fun. Then after working off the brunch we sit down for a huge family feast. That's Christmas with the McFayden clan and I wouldn't want it any other way!

I couldn't agree with this acronym more! Snow and I have a friends off relationship most days!

oh my goodness, this is so overdue as i thought i had already done it but Chantel was amazing! We came from Australia and from our emails beforehand you could tell that Chantel was just so professional and easy going (which is a loved Aussie trait). The day before our shoot our Australian bank went down and I called her freaking out, she was so cool with it and wasn't fazed at all (thankfully it rectified itself before our shoot) the entire time she was just so fun loving and free spirited and made us feel completely comfortable with so much laughter to be had that day. If you are looking for a photographer for any reason Chantel is perfect (we had our shoot to commemorate that we were there) we would highly recommend her!

Words can't even describe how amazing Chantal is, she shot our engagement and wedding photos and they're so much more then I ever could've imagined. For 2 people who are super awkward in front of the camera, looking at them you would never know. Chantal put us at ease right away and made us feel like we were old friends. Her and her husband are a great team together and we would happily recommend them to anyone! We live 7 hours from them, but we will be back for any other photography needs for sure! Thank you again Chantal, we're so grateful for the beautiful images you captured on our special day! xoxo

We just received our Wedding photos. All I can say is WOW!!! Chantal and Jason did such an amazing job shooting our day. It was a whopping 34 degrees and they were such troopers in the sun always making sure we were comfortable! Our wedding day was a fairytale and Im so glad we can look back at our photos as an amazing reminder of that.

I would recommend Paisley Photography to anyone!! I will definitely be using them again!!!

This is overdue, but Chantal was amazing to work with on our wedding day. She not only has a talent for photography but has a bubbly personality and was great to be around for the day. Such a lovely and talented photographer!! Chantal is super nice, prepared, and completely brought to life the session I imagined!! I couldn't be happier with the pictures, I will definitely be using her again and again and would recommend her without a doubt to anyone!! Not to mention she captured hard to get smiles from our 3 year old and managed to get great family shots and she did this all in less than an hour! Paisley Photography was one of the best decisions of our wedding planning! Chantal and Jason are incredible at what they do, fun and adventurous! My boyfriend hired Chantal for his surprise proposal in Banff and she was truly amazing!! He worked much more closely with her and said they had wonderful interactions, she gave great suggestions and was very responsive. As for the day of the pictures, she made us feel so comfortable and natural. We were shaking with excitement and cold, freezing in the snow but you’d never know it by her incredible photos. Wish we weren’t on the other side of the country or else I’d hire her for every single event!!!

I was so incredibly happy with our photography done by Paisley Photography. We had a collection of over 1300 images that we could use after the wedding was done. Also, Chantal did our engagement photos as part of our package. She took so much time and the quality of those pictures were equally as nice. I am so grateful for everything Chantal and Jason did to capture our special day. She even helped keep me calm when things didn't go as expected on the day.
