Passports And Pigtails

About Passports And Pigtails

I’ve discovered that I have wings. Mine happen to be hot pink with sparkles. I want to inspire others to discover theirs and fly as often as possible.

Located in the luxurious Fairmont Copley Plaza, the design of OAK Long Bar + Kitchen is simple. Inspiration. It is a place to both begin and end your day, a space of vibrant splashes of red against soaring windows draped in rich, white fabric, hightop bar conversation, stained glass couture and glass walled wine vaults. It is a contemporary haunt for guests and locals to “see and be seen” in Boston Magazine’s 2017 “Best Hotel Bar”.

It's a mission of love, unity, community, and empowerment. It is WE Founder, Craig Kielburger and musical acts such as Shawn Hook, Lights and Scott Helman. It is YouTube sensations, #GirlLove, inspirational stories, an official coming out on stage, a triumph and an inspiration. It is WE Day.
We were honored to attend the event that has taken the world by storm, driving change since 2007, finally making its Edmonton debut. The TELUS WE Day sponsorship allows tens of thousan...ds of students across Canada to attend for free. Youth earn their way to WE Day by doing at least one act of good in their community and globally.
TELUS has been a proud WE partner for 11 years, having given over $20M to date, with a continued commitment to #EndBullying. We were proud to join them today as guests, and join the conversation as they take a stance against cyberbullying and empower youth to act when witnessing or experiencing it.
For every Telus Wise Digital Pledge taken, TELUS will donate $1 to support #EndBullying programs. For more information, please visit: https://www.telus.com/endbullying
Together we can rise above. ❤💛💚💙💜

I could spend hours sitting in the window box of our luxurious room at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Curled up in my robe, coffee in hand, views of the bustling Copley Square Market, gothic style Old South Church tower and 19th century Trinity Church stretch out before me. To the left I see the Boston Public Library, where a film crew is busy shooting for the upcoming Hollywood hit, "Little Women" starring Meryl Streep and Emma Watson. This window is for people watching, day dreaming and route planning. It's a window of opportunity, and there is no place I'd rather start a glorious New England day.

Does it get any more authentic than a Red Sox vs Yankees ALDS game at Fenway Park? We were so excited to be able to attend a post season game in Boston, and while we aren't what you'd call your average die hard baseball fans, this was one experience of a lifetime that was so worth the tickets, hats and t-shirts. We cheered, we chanted, we ate giant hotdogs and we left with a whole new level of appreciation for the game.
Stay tuned for our blog that covers the history of Fenway, watching a homerun hit sail into the 'Green Monster' and the unique atmosphere experience of one of America's most beloved ballparks.

Beyond the surprises and the bucket list checks, are single moments of such pure and authentic happiness. This night is about so much more than a football game. It's the look of dreamy awe in Littlest B's face meeting cheerleaders. It's the sea of jersey clad strangers united by a common passion. It's stepping into the iconic stadium. It's seeing names like Brady and Gronkowski hit the field, and the deafening roar as Edelman makes his comeback. It's that first touchdown. It's drinks and dancing and cheering with strangers, all the while apologizing for being the overly excited Canadian family. Simply put, the game is about connection, and that is what life is all about. Cheers and GO PATS ❤

The 'B' family is kicking the Bucket List through the uprights!!
Our dream trip to Boston began at 3 am yesterday, a week packed with huge surprises that started with the kids having NO idea where we were going until we landed in Toronto!
And on our first full day at Patriot Place, the surprise was on us. We had the privilege of finally meeting Erik, an incredible human being and Patriots employee, who secured seats to our very first NFL game, and actually kicked off this ent...ire adventure. He not only delivered our tickets, he took us beyond the gates and onto the field. Touching that turf and standing on the Pats entrance path, was a moment I cannot even put into words.
Stay tuned because there is plenty to come!!

Edmonton's first 'Sonic Field Day' was a massive amount of fun! 5000 music fans, 9 hours, 8 bands, food trucks and plenty of beer made for a fantastic festival experience of rocking out with our friends at Victoria Park.
Highlights aside from the epic tunes? Bands bringing locals onto the stage for a small taste of rockstar living. That Dear Rouge coat. The hotdog launcher. Crowd surfing. Scoring a table in the VIP section and that moment of cell phone glow as everyone sang along campfire style with the Arkells. Bring on 2019!!

NEW POST: The Northlands era comes to a close this weekend with the 89th and final 'Canadian Derby'. But the good news is, this incredible sport has a bright new future in a state of the art home.
Read about our very first experience at the thoroughbred races, what we learned, why this affordable family experience is about so much more than hooves thundering down a dirt track, and why it is a MUST for your 2019 calendar.

If you follow along our journey, you know how passionate we are about music and attending as many live performances as we can.
So allow me to introduce you to City of the Sun, a high energy trio hailing from Brooklyn, NY who take fans on a "streetwise acoustic post-rock odyssey". That's code for EPIC.
They were hands down our favorite act of the incredible 4 day Edmonton Folk Music Festival. They were 'toss the umbrella aside, shake your hair and dance in the pouring rain' ki...nd of good. If you ever have a chance to catch them live, do it!!

After our very first night at the Edmonton Folk Fest, we finally understand all the hype.
The festival is a city in itself, Gallagher Park becomming home to 20,000 faces on each of the 4 days. The Edmonton Folk Fest is 39 years of laying tarps, lighting candles, dancing to a global collection of talent and simply coming together as a collective sea of souls on a picture perfect hill.
Night one gave us the eclectic notes of dakhabrakha, a powerful humanitarian message of love... from Buffy Sainte-Marie followed by the incredible, distinct talent of The Decemberists, as the sun set over the Edmonton city skyline. These are the moments that define a happy and full life.
Bring on night 2. 💖

Our second hike of the weekend was the beginning stages of the 65 km in and back, 5 star, difficult rated 'Pinto Lake Recreational Trail'. The trail that winds along the Cline River is also know for it's access to the Lake of Falls and Landslide and Michelle Lakes. Typically the Pinto Lake hike is done over 3-4 days.
Beginning at the trailhead just off the David Thompson Hwy, we enjoyed a leisurely 5 km trek in that took us through a peaceful treed setting and over several bridges. We came upon OD Creek, a serene and picturesque space to enjoy a break and a picnic. At one end was a narrow corridor leading to a small, but beautiful waterfall. The trail to this point is well maintained and fairly easy, making it a perfect 10 km hike for families that is doable in 4 hours.
