About Patisserie Du Soleil Bakery And Cafe

We are a family-owned and operated French bakery cafe located in Woodbine. We are passionate and creative people, making real food for real people. We believe that exceptional and authentic food should be accessible to all, not a privilege for the few.

Patisserie Du Soleil Bakery And Cafe Description

When my husband and I started our first bakery in 1999, we decided that we would only make food that we would serve to our own children. We believe in making fresh food using the best ingredients. We know that real people eat real food! We are proud to be a part of the Woodbine community, and are excited to be open at last in the East Village, Soleil Bistro & Bar

When I lived in Calgary I was a regular at the Glenmore Landing location. I loved the savoury croissants. The chef and staff were always friendly and helpful. I miss visiting your bakery!

User

We cam in on January 16 This was my second time coming here but first time having lunch, I also told my mom about this place as we are big time pastries lovers. The food was fantastic and the pastries was to die for. We will be coming back again when my sister co e for Christmas as her name is Soleyl. Thank you also to the waitress that just stared yesterday sorry I didn’t get your name but thank you for been awesome and also with my 13 month old son.

User

This place is amazing! They catered my engagement party 3 years ago and it was amazing. I also ordered sandwiches, pizza and pastries for my son's baptism and it was delicious!

User

This is an under rated independent spot that rocks an all day breakfast, lunch and take-out menu. I recommend the prime rib mushroom beef dip. Calgary needs one of these in every neighbourhood!

User

This is a great local place for a walk in coffee, family brunch, business lunch, low key dinner, and take out pastries and bread; there is nothing on the menu you will regret ordering. They've recently added more tables so there can sometimes be a wait, especially on the weekends. In this case, grab a coffee and a baked good and go for a walk in fish Creek. Heck they're even licensed! With coffee competition popping up around the corner I encourage anyone to choose the Patisserie first!

User

The food here is lovely and unique. The server Tara is a ray of sunshine who never cracks under pressure. The staff has been accommodating and friendly and the special events held there are very wonderful. He supports the arts and this little gem cafe is a great asset to our community!

User

The food and the service has always been outstanding. Friendly people in a small unique establishment is the kind of place I like to patronize. I saw two women "diss" this establishment on Yelp, but the truth of the story (I was there there that evening) is that everyone was very happy to see them leave. Still, they are vindictive, and they have been harassing the management ever since. That's shameful, because we love having this place to relax and enjoy quality food.

User

Soooo good AND there are so many gluten free options... not to mention the amazing gluten free banana bread!! Wonderful staff, location and atmosphere.

User

Love it here! The new orange croissants are amazing and the owners are such great people!

User

I love this place.

Being handicapped means that i quite often can't enjoy these types of places because rarely are they handicap friendly. However Patisserie du Soleil is.

The Thursday night poetry readings have quickly become a highlight of my week and i look forward to them all. The food is always very good and the pastries and desserts are exceptional.

It's a beautiful thing to know that we have a place where i can enjoy a nice meal with my family supporting a family run establishment who in return supports the local art scene in Calgary.

User

I Love the food here, so good....had the savory crepe with ham and cheese. The crepe was light, tasty, delicious, I don't know where they get there fruit, sweet and juicy. My husband got the 2,2,2, the sausage was excellent. Can't wait to come back again and try something else.

User

Great place to visit if you are looking for fresh pastries made with fresh ingredients and exceptional service. Everything here is made with love. I will definitely be back to satisfy my sweet tooth in the future. Cudos to the chefs on making incredible food! One of my favorite hidden gems in this city

User

As a former employee and long time customer this family owned establishment will always be close to my heart. My all time favorite dishes are the eggs florentine, lamb shank, and any choice of the specials (they're always great). Wonderful to come here and support community artists at any of the art, poetry, or live music nights that are often held here.

User

Unbelievably disappointing. We went there tonight for dinner. We ordered food and all seemed well. After 20 minutes the cook came to our table and told us the pizza dough was not ready and would we please order something else. Strange but somewhat understandable. We ordered other items and waited, waited and waited. After a further 30 minutes the waitress came and said the was a mix up and our order never made it to the cook. It was 5:45 now and she said the kitchen was now closed - no food for us after a 45 minute wait. It is hard to believe that the cook would not prepare our food. Not much of an apology so we left confused, disappointed and hungry. This was all after coming the previous night only to find the kitchen was closed an hour before the restaurant.

After a chat with the owners we returned to give this highly recommended local favourite another try. Had a fantastic meal on "pizza night" tonight. Many savoury and delicious flavours. We enjoyed our experience immensely. The delectable baked and pastry selections are particularly splendid. This is a fantastic local restaurant and I highly recommend anyone to give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

User

The staff were friendly and the coffee and pastries we had were fantastic. Keep it up as I'll be back for more.

User

I really love this place! For one (and most importantly) the coffee is terrific. The food is also amazing. I do wish the serving sizes we're a little bigger. My friend and I ended up ordering 2 meals each, but we are growing boys so we do eat a lot hahha. Still I will definitely come back.

User

Great to have gluten free options, food is really good, service is great. Wish the chairs were more comfortable, and that you were open later in the evening, but overall I really like it!

User

It's a nice setting, and while I haven't tried the pastries yet, they look delicious! That said, I was at the Woodbine location with some friends yesterday, and because it seems to have weird combination of order-at-the-till and sit-down styles, you're never quite sure what you need to to. We were waiting a while for the server to come take our order - they weren't busy, just chatting with each other. So one of my friends had to go up and tell them we were ready.

Depending on what you order, it can be either really good or just kind of mediocre. For the prices, presentation could be a little better. Two ladies ordered the eggs Benedict, which came out on cold plates and subsequently their eggs etc were only warm-ish. I had French onion soup, and while it was steaming, it was only warm as well, which I felt really affected the taste.

So, the potential for great food is there, but they need to make sure things are being served hot. And for a party of six, if they're automatically tacking on a gratuity to the bill, the servers need to be more attentive.

User

I was pretty disappointed but we'll go back and give them one more try. The beignets were way over done and shouldn't have been served. Frankly they were more like doggy treats than beignets. The hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict was bland out of a package stuff; I don't know how they can serve hollandaise that doesn't even taste like hollandaise. The server was nice but the overall service was extremely slow. Cutlery was dirty and bent. I sure didn't see the basis for the high ratings.
