Most disagreeable, unfriendly, dismissive , rude Nurses i have ever had the misfortune of encountering. Really shockingly horrible bedside manner.

Wait time was about 2hrs (not unreasonable), plenty of parking, and doctor was knowledgeable and helpful. However have been to emergency rooms in few different hospitals across the country in my time ,but was shocked and appalled by the behaviour of minor injuries nurses.Something wrong with the culture or enviroment at this place giving 1 star.

Evelyn May I feel for you I feel so awfully sorry with your experience same thing happened to me too those people in that hospital really do lack education and knowledge I think they are there just to complete their shift and get paid no matter matters to them awful!!! New expecting mothers go else where and be very open-minded and knowledgeable yourself because those people don't know any better

Had a great experience when my hubby had an accident and broke his femur - EMT's were great and the emergency staff were also wonderful. I have a problem with some of the negative reviews left here - the woman who had a nosebleed for 45 minutes should have gone to a walk-in clinic instead of clogging up the emergency room, hell I had one on and off for two days and I would only have gone to a clinic first. Stupid woman. Everyone can have a horror story (I have one from the old General Hospital) about hospitals, but it just sounds like from some of these complaints that perhaps their situation wasn't as bad as perhaps a knife or gunshot wound or an immediate heart attack. Just because someone is (unfortunately) in pain, does not mean it is life threatening..As evidenced by that fact that they are alive to tell about it..

So many positive experiences in good/bad situations. Staff at all levels were very caring, not only of the patient, but of family members as well. The surgeon who attended even calls after surgery to let us know how it went and how our loved one was doing.

My daughter went in for Day surgery. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We were treated with respect and kindness. A staff member named Denae was patient and compassionate. 😊 Thanks for the great care.

I got so upset at the hospital I delivered in because I'm vegan and I am raising my babies vegan. So, at the hospital right after my baby was born they took him to the nursery and immediately bottle fed him cow milk formula without even consulting me about it first. I was able to breastfeed, but they didn't even give me the chance, and kept my baby in the nursery for 24 hours, so I didn't even get to spend time with him or feed him properly for the first 24 hours of life. The nurses kept saying, "well he needs to eat. This cow milk formula is all we have" but they didn't even let me breastfeed. I've never felt so disrespected in my entire life. My baby is now 4 months old and he breast feeds and supplements sometimes with soy formula. I wish I could go back to that hospital and yell at them for abusing my rights and freedoms, and for not caring about my babies health. This just shows people how uneducated they truly are about how veganism is healthy, or else they would never have gone and done this in he first place.

The hospital kept me and my son for nearly 46 hours just because they labelled me as a 'first time mom'. I had two doctors each tell me I could go home after 24 hours, and then when that time came and passed I asked why we weren't discharged, and all I got was, "you're baby is only 6 pounds Hun, he's too small. Are you sure he isn't jaundice?" 6 pounds or not, he had a clean bill of health so I asked for a second opinion. I had 3 nurses refuse to get a doctor for me to get a second opinion for, and while all this was happening I had a nurse come tell me that while my baby was in the nursery his blood sugar dropped because one of the nurses forgot to feed him.

So not only did I wait almost 3 days to be discharged for a healthy, normal delivery/baby; I also had been discriminated against because I was 'younger and a new mom' as everyone kept telling me. I had my rights as a mother stripped away the moment they bottle fed my child without permission, and without checking with me about his dietary restrictions as well, fully aware that we are a no animal product, fully vegan family. By the time I got a second opinion from the doctor it was 11pm, and he told me we wouldn't be allowed to leave that late at night, and would have to stay for another night. The lady beside me had her 4th baby, and got discharged before 24hrs. I've never felt so discriminated against in my life, and the nurses never checked on me to see how I was doing, and once I told them that I wanted my baby in the same room as me, they never once came back to check on either of us. I had to send my husband out to go get someone, and it took almost 2 hours each time for someone to come. Have you ever had a baby start chocking for no reason, and have no nurses come in even after you page four times? I have. It's not fun, and it's very scary and it should never have happened.

I advise all pregnant ladies who are debating delivering at Peter Lougheed to go somewhere else. The postpartum staff is very disrespectful and they will not treat you or your baby nicely. And if you are younger than 30 years old, they will treat you like you are 16 years old; I'm 27 in case you are wondering. I have never felt so disgusted with this hospital, and hell, I was even born in this hospital! And to make matters worse, I was shamed by the nurses for needing a catheter, and I was only given bread to eat for the whole time I was there. Bread. I feel like if I had given birth in a prison it would have been nicer.

Hospitals shouldn't be able to go against parents wishes and ethical standpoints just because they feel like it. My baby had no reason to be on formula, and he had no reason to be kept from me for 24 hours. I will never get those 24 hours of bonding time back with my son. Ever. This should never have happened, and I want everyone to know about it because I'd hate it if it happened to someone else.

Unit 51 was amazing. They did what they could to keep us comfortable. Had 2 amazing nurses that actually made things better. Unit 53 on the other hand. 1st nurse was rude and arrogant. 1 nurse we saw her once her entire shift. Waited over 6 hours before seeing another nurse. Unit 53 is a horrible experience... They spend to much time gossiping at the desk then doing their job

Worst hospital in Calgary! Staff members are very rude, and very impatience. They have no idea how to treat patience. More often then non many people ended up transporting patience to other hospitals like Rockyview and or the foothills. 10 hours now waiting and we didn't finish yet

My son was born of the 15th of March, staff in unit 51( labour and delivery) were fantastic. Very hard working, kind and courteous. I really can't thank them enough. I wish I could say our whole experience was that good. Our stay in unit 53 ( post partum) has been terrible call for a nurse often went unheard. We found most staff rude with the exception of our nurse on the second night and the guy who brought us meals the second day. We waited 4 hours to see a discharge nurse and often waited 2 or more hours just to see a nurse regarding medication. Extremely unimpressed with a unit you'd expect to be very caring for new mothers and fathers. As wonderful as the delivery staff was I would not recommend delivering at this hospital.

My 92 year old mother was seen in ER on the weekend and had to return Sun evening. Decision was then made to admit her, but there was a long waiting list for in-patient beds. Late Mon. she was assigned to a bed on Unit 42. I would like to thank the ER staff for the way they effectively handled my mother with her dementia. This is on top of her painful arthritis and visual blindness - she is a complex patient. The staff treated her with upmost respect and caring and were very helpful in guiding us her family through the admission process. Her inpatient room setting is very pleasing with much natural light and appropriate wheelchair support for her.

My husband was in Unit 38 from Oct. 29 to December 15. The nurses were great with the exception of a few but the cleanliness is not there at all. The cleaning staff moved at a snails pace and were more concerned with breaks and lunches. Garbage cans were over flowing the floors were disgusting, something definitely needs to be done about the cleaning staff. Also had problems with people stealing our food out of the refrigerator, they were clearly labelled but some people just don't care. The hospital in general is fine but whom ever is in charge of the Cleaning union needs to do something for sure.
