Prairie Mountain

A great early season hike with a couple of step sections near the top. Have done this hike many times. Great views at the top.

One of the easiest mountain top hikes in the area. It is hiked year round but very popular as a start of the season first hike.

Easy hike, give 4 hours if inexperienced. Good views of Moose Mountain.

There are some steep sections but the distance is short and the terrain is non-technical, definitely an approachable hike for beginners. The hike starts relentlessly going up, pretty much without reprieve until the top, but once there you are rewarded with incredible views in every direction and of course, level(ish) ground. The top is a big open area with a minor cliff band to one side and a few groups of trees, it's a great spot for a picnic if it isn't windy. This is a pretty popular trail, especially in the shoulder seasons, so it is unlikely you'll have the top to yourself.

I liked the hike and views. It's a continuous uphill with 2 or 3 steep sections, so expect to work hard, even though the distance is fairly short.
