What is Proulx Brew all About?
Proulx Brew is in the start (very early start) of something great. Proulx brew right now is a fledgling home brewery practice, which is steadily growing into a solid small micro brewery rooted in Edmonton.
Proulx Brew will strive to provide you with top quality and delicious hand crafted brews which adheres to the Reinheitsgebot (German Beer Purity Law). This means that Proulx Brew will only use the natural ingredients of water, malts, hops and yeast and natural flavouring ingredients such as berries and spices. We will foster business relationships with local, and organic farmers to provide us with our ingredients.
Proulx Brew will have the lowest impact operation established. Excess heat will be recaptured to reduce heating requirements. Insulation will be utilized to reduce both heating and cooling requirements. Only environmentally responsible cleaning products will be used, and waste (if any) will be properly disposed of. On that note Proulx Brew will strive to be zero waste, this means that our spent grains will either end up as compost, livestock feed, or as energy for our process. Proulx Brew understands that a sustainable business does not make profits the priority. Proulx Brew will have a well though out process from start to finish which reduces it impact at every possible step, and its passion proves to be an inspiration to those around it.
Proulx Brew will focus on offering bulk beer options, in the form of growlers, kegs and on tap. When Proulx Brew does need bottles it will strive to collect all of its bottles back and will limit how far its brews travel. Speaking of travel, all Proulx Brews will be delivered by cargo bike.
Proulx Brew will be a relaxing place to gather, create experiences and inspire ideas. Proulx Brew will constantly strive to become an active member of its local community, fostering healthy and lasting relationships with its patrons and neighbouring businesses. Proulx Brew will listen what its neighbours are saying and will be ready to help. Proulx Brew has a goal of becoming the center of a community offering more than just watering hole; a place to display art and host art galleries, a place to host fundraisers, a place to host local musicians and shows, a place to fix up your bicycle. The last point comes from the owners immense passion for cycling and as a result proulx brew will provide a free bike maintenance site (complete will a bike repair stand, air pump, and all of the necessary tools) for those quick repairs that all cyclists know that we run into.
Cooking is also another strong passion of the owners of Proulx Brew, so as a result Proulx Brew will attempt to start out with a one day a week brunch serving only the finest healthy, vegetarian meals using quality ingredients.
