Its official, the order has been placed on a DJI/Flir UAV Aerial Commercial Building Inspector (R) Thermal imaging kit with Flir Canada. This is the kit which includes dual controllers for extra safety when operating in high hazard areas, it has a Flir XT (R) Zenmuse 640+512, 30 Hz thermal imaging camera capable of taking high resolution thermal images at altitudes up to 1500 ft above ground level with amazing accuracy. The radiometric capability allows the operator to adjust... parameters inflight to reduce background contamination and enable the best possible resolution which ensures the most accurate temperature measurements. Applications include, but are not limited to large building, solar panel array, refractory vessel, electrical and infrastructure inspections, to stockpile analysis, and even search and rescue missions. I have been actively training my UAV team for this, together we have gained proficiency in visual observer and image gathering techniques in an effort to be in the air as soon as our SFOC permit arrives later this month. Call or message me today to get more information on our capabilities and pricing.

Well its time to start thinking about summer projects, if you are considering renovations to your home, Raven Infrared will help you determine where any insulation deficiencies are located, or if the the roof has any water intrusion under the the shingles and also can identify many more issues present from electrical to pest infestation. By identifying exactly where the issue is, homeowners save time and money repairing only the areas needed. We have recently completed our ap...plication for the Transport Canada SFOC permit which will give us the capability to do large flat roof inspections for commercial customers safely, efficiently and affordably with a drone. The applications for drone videography/thermography range from building inspections to crop health surveys, to stockpile volume assessments, real estate and eventually will include optical gas imaging for monitoring fugitive emissions in the oil and gas industry.

A customer asked me what is the difference between my Equine Thermography report and someone who use’s infrared to sell a treatment. I told him that the difference is that they are using an infrared camera to support the sale of a treatment for a symptom being exhibited by the subject, meaning that they don’t provide a report, they usually show the horse owner a thermal anomaly on the screen of the camera and make their diagnosis from that to support a treatment. The problem ...with that is the diagnosis is flawed from the start. You need to have a baseline in order for any change to be accurately identified or measured. The baseline must be done when the animal is thermally neutral and out of the elements.Horses are known to exhibit symptoms bilaterally, which means if the left leg is showing signs of lameness, look to the right side for the problem. My reports are created to show the physiological response to exercise, they are quite detailed, up to 66 images. They enable a horse owner and their veterinarian to see exactly what is going on,by measuring the differences bilaterally on any thermal anomalies present. A 1* difference is the accepted industry standard to indicate a problem, anything more then that is just measuring severity of the issue. Once you have a baseline report, any changes can be observed, measured and updated to the report for future reference. Book your Equine Thermography report today to take advantage of our 10% off spring special on until May 1/18.Call or text Kevin at 1(780)817-4379.

Well I have just completed my UAV pilot training through Canadian Unmanned Inc in Calgary this past week. I would like to thank the instructor Sterling Cripps on presenting a comprehensive and concise course load with clarity and knowledge. There was a great cross section of people attending from fire inspectors, to aircraft mechanics, surveyors and even a couple of hobbyists. I was the only infrared imaging person in attendance and opened some of their eyes to the use of inf...rared in their fields of expertise. Had a great time and would recommend the course to everyone who intends on flying a UAV(drone). In fact its the law, if you get caught flying a drone without insurance, a UAV pilots licence and either an exemption or SFOC permit, the fines start at $3000. There are a bunch of other requirements that need to be met as well, so the course prepares you for that. Its well worth it. I will be offering video and infrared aerial imaging as soon as I meet all the conditions set out to get an SFOC permit, about 4-6 weeks including file processing time by Transport Canada. Please call or message me for more information or to book your flight.

Home owners, are you thinking of getting an grant or loan to retrofit your home to modern construction standards. Homes built in the sixties, seventies and even early eighties had different materials and techniques used in construction. Today contractors use more energy efficient products and improved methods of installation to enable you to have the same benefits in your older home. An infrared energy audit is the first step in identifying problem areas prior to work being done to gain a perspective on the scope of work needed to achieve the goal of energy efficiency. So next week from March 20-24/2018, I am in Calgary taking a course. If you would like to take advantage of our spring special, 10% off either the basic or a pre/post baseline Equine Thermography report. I have some openings for scans from Friday afternoon till Sunday evening. Call or message me to book your appointment now. These reports are great for identifying any inflammation present before the riding season starts. They enable a horse owner to visualize what is going on under the skin of their animal, this allows a better understanding of why they are exhibiting certain behaviors during use. Another benefit of getting a baseline done now, is that you have it as a comparison for reference if an injury occurs during competition. This will enable you to determine the severity of the issue and if or what treatment is necessary.

So last week I had an opportunity to help Dr Taylor Sobchuk of the Edson Veterinary clinic with the diagnosis of soft tissue injuries on four different dogs all with separate issues. It requires very similar poses to the equine reports that I prepare, the challenge is in getting the subject to stay still long enough to get good clear images. We had a great cross section of breeds and problems to identify and were able to get enough images to prepare the reports. The one takea...way from the session was a need to have any hair longer then 1/2" clipped so the coat is uniformly even in the area of concern, this should be done 3-4 days prior to the appointment to allow any marks from the trim to subside. If you are interested, please contact the Edson vet clinic or your own vet and have them contact me to set up an appointment. I recently got confirmation from an Equine insurance carrier, Capri Insurance from Kelowna that they would consider covering the costs of the Equine Thermography report if the consulting veterinarian requests it. This should also apply to canine insurance as well, Dr Sobchuk is checking into that for me and as soon as I get word back that it is a fact I will let it be known. Heres some images from my last session.

Well, I`m sure I am not alone in wishing February goodbye, the shortest month has gone by and soon the days will be longer and another winter bites the dust. At Raven Infrared I have been doing a lot of administrative work ensuring our safety program meets or exceeds Alberta OH&S regulations and code with the goal of achieving COR certification. I have been out promoting my new Equine report templates to all the local veterinary services and soon will be in the Calgary area t...o take UAV drone flight training which will enable me to do large building/roof scans safely, quickly and with minimal enviromental impact. If you are a southern alberta equine customer and would like to book an appointment, I will gladly travel to you from there to save on travel fees. On another note I have recently been asked by a local veterinary clinic if I can image dogs for soft tissue injury. The answer is yes I can, I have created a report template specifically for dogs which can help your veterinarian diagnose those injuries missed by traditional imaging techniques. I am offering these new reports at a special price and if you are interested, please message or text me for a quote.

Happy February everyone, as we trudge through winter towards spring I`m sure the competitive horse enthusiast`s out there are getting prepared for another season of barrel racing, reining, cutting, etc. Thermal imaging is a safe, accurate and affordable method of determining your equine athletes health readiness with a baseline Equine Thermography report. These reports enable the horse owner/trainer to see any inflammation or soft tissue injury that may need to be addressed prior to competition, they can be used for reference as the season progresses to monitor an area of concern for recovery or if the condition worsen`s. The images below show the same subject pre and post exercise to illustrate my point. Don`t wait till its to late, book your horse now to ensure that they are good to go. Text or message for pricing and availability.

So I just completed my first Equine report of 2018, I am looking forward to doing many more before the year is up. If you have a hard to diagnose issue with your horse, I can help isolate any inflammation present and determine the severity of it for you prior to going to the vet. I am presently acquiring a veterinarian to analyse the images and offer treatment solutions, that will enable you as a horse owner to make an informed decision and minimize any travel trauma to your animal. Thermal imaging is the only diagnostic imaging that comes to the horse`s home, limiting stress both physically on the horse and financially, as transportation to the clinic is not cheap. Please call or message me if you need help.

I would like to thank Stephanie Romeo for trusting in Raven Infrared to provide some insight into her mares condition, I am sure that I can help her localize and determine the severity of the issue. Thermal imaging is portable and one of only two methods of imaging that is able to show soft tissue inflammation and measure how severe it is. If you are not sure where to start with a equine diagnosis, give me a call or message me, I can help.

These are images I did on a friends dog, it was limping bad and had no visible injury or incident to indicate the problem. We scanned it using a technique that I use when I prepare an equine report,by comparing thermal anomalies bilaterally and measuring the temperature difference. These images clearly show the left leg medial view is quite inflamed compared to the right leg medial view with a 1.2*c difference higher up the leg and a 2.8*c difference at the dew claw. The dew ...claw in question had been removed due to an earlier injury, but had become infected and was inflamed from that. Being a long hair dog it was extremely hard to discern the inflammation visually, a 1*c difference is indication that there is a problem, so a 2.8*c difference is huge indicating a serious problem. On taking their dog to the vet, it was discovered that the dew claw was ingrown and with a little minor surgery and she was good as new. If you have an issue with your pet and would like me to image it to localize any inflammation present, please don`t hesitate, call or message me using the contact information above

Recent road trip near Moose Lake in Mount Robson provincial park, I had an opportunity to image the Rocky Mountaineer as it passed by, check out these images, is that the little engine that could? I laughed when I saw it and thought you might too.
