On Wednesday May 16th I attended the Hodgetwins show. I am handicapped & use a power wheelchair. As we entered, Manager Rowen asked if I preferred sitting by the entrance or by the washroom I said washroom, but we noticed the wheelchair couldn’t take a straight path across so without giving it a second thought he said I’ll take the back exit and go around the back hallway to the other side by the bathroom “ This worked out perfect. Washroom is very wheelchair friendly.

At the end of the show I had VIP meet and greet, so Rowan spoke to the Hodge twins and asked if they could meet with me first, which they did. Then Rowan asked the patrons if they could clear a path to the exit for me.

It was a great show and I had a fantastic time and I really do appreciate the extra effort the comedy club made for me.

My husband and I try to get here every time we have date night. Service is always great, when we order food it’s awesome and the comedian is usually always hilarious. Highly recommend this to anybody who is looking for an awesome night out.

Last week was my first comedy show in Alberta, and it was great! Super affordable ticket prices,The MC was super funny, the staff was great, and the food/drinks were amazing. We are planning to go back real soon for our anniversary, it was so good!!

I’ve been several times now for various levels of comedians. I’ve seen unknowns (best with day job) to fairly high level celebrities (piff the magic dragon, Eric Griffin, Jeremy Piven) and have never left unsatisfied. The seats are all close to the comics which make for a more personal experience.

The food has always been good. Yes the drink prices may be high but that’s true everywhere you go now. The waitresses work hard to get your orders in time, and when they’re behind they have always come to my table, apologized, and ensured they’ll be coming as soon as they can. When service was slow, the serving staff was professional and continued to come back to my table to check if I needed anything further. As a repeat customer to the comic strip, I am always leaving satisfied and willing to come back for more. Highly recommend.

Favorite spot in the city!!!! Always a good laugh and a great environment. Good location near bars/restaurants on bourbon street to make it a great date night or night out with friends.

User

Amazing time, good food and entertainment. Definitely going to have to go back here more and enjoy good times with good friends.

User

Great show! Had many laughs. It was jammed packed last night, so the service was slow and understandably. You could see people getting impatient but having worked the service industry, I can understand how overwhelming it can get. You see so many negative reviews on the service here, and yes, maybe they weren’t fully staffed for the turn out, but it’s not their faults, and our waiter was super organized. We saw Michael Quu last night and he was fantastic. The show was hilarious, the MC was great (completely forgot his name, but he kept making jokes about his lazy eye ) and kept the crowd going in between acts.. regardless how slow the service was, I’m there for the comedy and eventually we got our beverages! Some people need to lighten up and be more understanding! Would definitely go back! Cheers and laughs !

I enjoyed the show, however the people beside me had no etiquette. And despite being told to quiet down, they persisted. I lost out on some content to them being obnoxious and rude. So if I'd ever go again I'd prefer to see people like that being removed, according to the other people around me they wanted to curse them out. I dont mind mild talk amongst people, but when you learn someone's password for everyone then it's not small talk. Otherwise the acts were great and I appreciated the servers hard work.

I was here last night for Ari Shaffir. Door were supposed to open at 9:15, we waited in line until around 9:45 before we got it. When we were seated I was impressed with how close we were to the stage and I really liked the atmosphere. However, they turned music on before the show, which was fine until they turned the volume way up and couldn’t even talk with my boyfriend at a normal volume. Then they turned off ALL the lights throughout the entire show. I couldn’t even see my food while I was eating it, I don’t even know how the wait staff were able to serve properly when there wasn’t a light on. Also, the stage had a bunch of screens behind it with really bright light the whole time. My suggestion is to remove those crappy screens, and provide some nice comfortable lighting instead of keeping it dark in there. Also, we got our bill at the very end and wait staff didn’t come around to collect our money, so as soon as it was over, literally everyone had to pay at once and we just wanted to get out of there so we ended up having to scrounge some cash to leave on the table instead of waiting forever for a waitress. I really liked this venue but those things kind of ruined my enjoyment. They have a lot of good comedians perform there though.

When to The Comic Strip on Saturday night for date night. Thought that it would be fun for me and the man. Had been a while since we have gone and realized that ticket prices have gone up. Paid over $64+ dollars for 2 tickets. I joked with the sales person that performance better be good for the price and she just smiled and laughed. Sat through three acts, to which only the MC was funny. Pretty much the entire place didn't laugh that much. When it came to paying the bill we asked for our bill long before the end of the show. Waitress bought our bill but them forgot to come back. We were also told that the debit machine was done and we could go to the bank machine at the front door. I'm sure this is just a money grab of a $4 or $5 service fee. We had cash and did not need the bank machine. Waitress never came back to get out money. We had to ask another server to take our money and get our license back. By this time half the audience had already cleared out. We also saw that if you spend over $25.00 on for or drink that you would receive a complementary ticket to a future show. This did not happen. Overall, we spend $150.00+ dollars on a not so funny evening. Would have rather went to the Keg for a wonderful steak dinner.

User

The comedian was good, the only problem with the place was the fact that our server told us his boss said it was mandatory that everyone at our table had to purchase a beverage. This was when the show had already started. I told the server you can't force someone to buy a drink if they don't want to and he replied his boss said it was on our ticket. So I looked on my phone where the ticket was and nowhere did it say each admission required guest to purchase minimum of one beverage. Just straight up hustle. I ended up ignoring the server, not really his fault but management's. Still wouldn't go back if that's how they want to do business.

The acts were so good, the best I have seen. I just want to make this clear. The service was horrible, the waitress seemed lost and inexperienced. She came to our table at the beginning of the night to take our drink order but forgot to bring it. She finally did after repeatedly asking. She then forgot to take the food order. We kept having to track her down the entire night which took away from the experience of the show. The worst was when the show ended. Lights on and a bunch of bussers came in to clean the table but no waitress again. We stood there waiting to pay until once again I had to chase her down. She said don’t you have your bill? OMG I said no, none of us do. She zipped off again (ps I have no idea where she goes) I get my bill and now I want to pay, guess what, no waitress, she’s gone again! I talk to the bussers who have informed me there is no debit (what kind of place doesn’t have debit??!!!) I have to take money from the machine of course a service charge, them I look at the bill closer, 2 coffees each 5.50 and 20% tip for themselves. I finally find the waitress and said here!!! She said how much change would you like back? I said every cent!!! I said your service was bad and you already helped yourself to a tip. Guess what? She didn’t have change! I said I’ll wait.. I did finally get my change but I won’t be going back which is too bad, this establishment is scam with no fault of the comics.

Super disappointed in what I consider will be my last visit to the comic strip. After a great show & super slow service, the server insisted she returned my friend’s credit card. She hadn’t. She had no idea where it was, and we found it on the floor about 5 tables back. She basically tossed a couple free vouchers our way as “I guess an apology”. We spoke with management who finally agreed not to charge the card for our bill. Satisfied with the resolution we left. Turns out they did charge the card...three times for three different amounts. There are other places to catch a comedy show, it doesn’t seem they’ve figured out (or care) what good customer service is.

Just had an entire tray of 6 drinks spilled over my head not even 10 minutes into the show. My hair is soaked, my shirt is soaked and my pants are soaked. My purse and everything in it is soaked. We asked for our money back and the manager who looked like he’s 17 and just woke up from a nap didn’t show an ounce of empathy and acted as if it was a huge hassle to give us our money back. Obviously it was an accident, but customer service goes a long way. All he had to do was go ask anyone in the room what happened. I was literally ringing my clothes out in front of him. Even the MC (who was really funny) was sympathetic to the situation and said “we will rectify this”. Other than him, all the other staff seemed stunned. No apology from the sleepy manager. If it wasn’t managed so poorly they could have actually sat people properly. They refuse to open the back section and cram people in around the stage. We will never go back.

If it were possible to give this place and comedians a negative review, I would!!! A group of us went to the comic strip last Saturday for a bachelorette party and were treated like complete garbage! Long story short: the comedian, Jak Knight thought our table was being loud by clapping and laughing at his not so funny skit and proceeded to walk onto our table, kick our food and drinks into our faces and onto the floor, call us c**** and told us to get the f*** out!!!?? If you want to be HUMILIATED and DEGRADED, I recommend this club 100%. As I've told the manager of this joke of an establishment, neither myself or any person I know, will ever attend a show at this disgrace of a place. COMPLETELY DISGUSTED!!

User

If i could make this review negative stars I would. I went to the comic strip last night for my birthday, expecting to have some good laughs with my family. Well no. From the moment we sat down our service was not good. It probably took over 20 minutes for us even to get our drinks, and the place was not even full. Our waiter wasn’t rude or anything just not very good. The MC and the opening act were not funny or interesting to listen to. We were trying to engage with the comics, not being disrespectful at all but trying to laugh at their jokes even though they weren’t great. Finally we get our drinks, and our food takes till almost the main act to come out. We’d be sitting waiting for more drinks and our waiter was no where to be found. The last act comes and and he was a great act so our table was fully engaged in his show, however some punk ass server guy, (not our main waiter) came up to be on my birthday and said if you don’t be quiet we’re getting the manager over here. Well that completely ruined my experience with the show. Its hard to laugh and have fun when someone tells up to basically shut up. Cause I guess if youre at a comic club your just supposed to sit there and be quiet. Because we were a group of 8 people a mandatory 20% gratuity was put on each of our bills which was well over $20 per bill for horrible service. We ended up talking to the manager and I said I’m not paying for this gratuity for this horrible service and the way I was treated by your staff and wrecking my show experience. He said well to bad you are paying it ill give you free tickets to a show. I said Im never coming back to this place, where you don’t even try to make your customers happy. He refused to take the gratuity off our bills, and I never even ended up getting the extra tickets. The manager and the staff were also extremely rude to my mom and sister who were also upset with the quality of the place. I will never go back to this horrible money grabbing poor service establishment. We spent well over $200 dollars for tickets and food and drinks and it was the worst way to spend my money and a night. At the end of the night other people in the audience came up to us and said they had absolutely no problem with our table, and we were just having a good time. We were not being loud obnoxious heckling jerks, we were just laughing and having fun. The comic even came up to me after because I was clearly upset and gave me a hug, and management did nothing.

User

I'm an out of town guest and I will not be spending any of my money at this club due to a poor public reputation. Poor management and you can get better food at a Walmart. This is not an A club by any stretch of the imagination and to say so is absolutely untrue. They book some good Comedians but there are far better rooms to play. Not recommended to my friends.

User

Horrible experience. Went there for a bachelorette party over the weekend. Comedian was extremely rude. Calling us many things even c***. Comedian stepped on our table spilled our drinks, stepped in our food.

We will never recommend this place ever again! Refused to give us refund and still had to pay for our drinks!

User

Hilarious comedians horrible waitresses and staff was watching the show and a overweight guy that worked there came to my table and accused me of filling one of there cups with my own pop that they never stopped me from bringing in even though it was in plain sight from the time I walked in very disappointed in the service
