The following email was received from Eric Lowther regarding the Stoney Trail Aggregate (gravel) pit. In light of numerous complaints about noise and hours of operations, please see the details provided below.
I am the Rocky View County Councillor for the areas adjacent to your communities. I am writing concerning the Stoney Trail Aggregate pit, just east of Rocky Ridge Road, which is operated by the Province of Alberta.
The Pit runs 24 hours a day – as authorized by the ...Provincial Government.Contractors there are authorized and directed by the province to mine and crush gravel 24 hours a day.The late evening and night noise of the 24 hour operation is louder than ever this year, even up to a kilometer away and certainly is disrupting a number of local residents. (Please see letter to Province attached)*.
On Wednesday, August 30th at 7:00 pm, local residents are meeting to find out more and see what can be done to change the operating hours of the extraction operation from these Provincially operated lands.
All local residents are invited to attend this meeting at 7:00 pm August 30th at the Bearspaw Community Centre. (map*) 253220 Bearspaw Rd
I request you pass this invite along to community leaders and any concerned residents you may have in Rocky Ridge or Royal Oak. All are welcome attend this information/action session.
Please let me know if your communities share these concerns.
Respectfully,
Eric Lowther - Councillor, Rocky View County elowther@rockyview.ca Cell: 403.815.4999 www.ericlowther.ca www.rockyview.ca
*If you wish to receive a copy of the letter map, please email officeadmi@rrrha.ca prior to 4:00pm on the 30th.
