Wait times are brutal here. Times on the website never match what you end up actually waiting just to get a bed. Then you have to wait more to see a doctor. Currently I am sitting at 2.5 hours and the website said 1 hour. I am also watching a nurse lamp shopping on the Ikea website on the computer.

Some wards are better than others. The nurses in maternity are saints but the ER moves at a glacial pace.

I am in the emergency room right now and all I hear from the nurses is how much there job sucks and complaining about the geriatric patients with there hip replacements that are too hard to take care of. They are mad that the doctor isn't moving these patients on.
These particular 2 nurses are not doing there job well. They sound like a bunch of gossiping teenagers!!!
The doctors have been amazing and the first nurse Allison was great.

My 93 year old mother was admitted last Wednesday suffering from pneumonia. She was sent to unit 82 where everything and everyone was great. Then she got an intestinal infection and was moved to unit 72. They tried to take blood 4 times and then another nurse realized the first nurse hadn't taken the cover off the needle. Another nurse told my mother to take the pulse thingy off her finger and to toss it into a basket. Of course it began beeping for ages. And she doesn't get the food items she orders. Yesterday l went to see her and she was starving. She is also diabetic and weighs 93 pounds. All she had was a boiled egg and a piece of toast for breakfast, an egg salad sandwich for lunch and sweet potatoes which makes her gag and 3 meatless meatballs. She couldn't eat it and so she hadn't eaten until l purchased her a meal at the cafeteria at 8:00

I can't say enough about how warm and supportive the staff were at Rockyview Hospital. Each staff member introduced themselves by first name and frequently kept me informed about my situation and status. And the room I stayed in for one night rivaled 5-star hotel rooms, as it overlooked a lake. Yes, patients are required to wait some hours before seeing a doctor, but this is a reflection of the Canadian medical system and not the hospital. My experience at Rockyview was as good as I could have hoped for. Thanks so much everyone. Greatly appreciated.

Worst hospital in Calgary. My advice don't go there, unless you want to get more sick. My experience was very bad. The staff don't care and rude. There is no signage in the waiting room to guide you for next step . My wife had a neck pain and couldn't sleep at night. I took her to rocky view hospital to get diagnosed for any neck injury. After five hours wait , we were admitted and nurse "Mark " gave morphine injections to my wife. I did ask the nurse, why morphine injection and he rudely replied if you want relief we have to inject with morphine. To my knowledge, the morphine is given only in surgery cases or severe pain by patient permission. After injections, my wife situation got worse and she couldn't talk. I called the nurse and he checked her BP and pulse came low. She started experiencing nausea and vomited more than 15 times. It was worst and painful experience. Then, we were sent to waiting area and waited another four hours. My wife got more sick and they want us to sign the if we want to leave. There was no bed provided. Please, don't go to rocky view hospital to be safe.

My 18 year old son was very sick with vertigo and was brought in by ambulance. The doctors were thorough and the nurses were very kind and understanding, as it was a very scary experience for him. He was there all day and they kept him until he was able to walk by himself and had the right medications to stop the vertigo and vomiting. I'm very grateful for such caring people.

My experiences are varied depending on which visit over the years. The worst memory is of having my breast removed. Thank god for my best friend coming to help me shower. I was treated like a criminal by the LPN's, rough and cruel, no compassion. The RN's are overworked. I loaded up my wheelchair with my flowers and possessions and headed downstairs, rather than have this young woman come near me. Collapsed in the lobby and ended up in emergency. Felt for the elderly lady in the next bed, they treated her worse. So sad. My sister is in there today, she has terminal cancer, hopefully the care has improved.

On May 5, my sister was brought in by the ambulance the waiting time from we arrival/ departure was 8hrs in the ER, the staff and Dr are useless. The only person that had an idea of what was wrong was the gynecologist. Which we have to go back in two weeks?? She was in more pain when we left. The Dr prescribed pain prescription and out we went. While waiting in the waiting room a young mom and her baby was there, the mom was shivering and crying as she was in so much pain. Nurses walked by and never even bother taking the time to attend to her changing conditions, until a patient in the ER got up and told the nurse. I felt like we were in a third world countries and you were just a number. I live in Calgary pretty much my entire life. The worst hospital ever. No sympathy for patients. Not sure if they are short staff, health care cut backs or what??
