ESSENTIALS OF FILM & TV
... The fundamentals of on-camera technique are introduced through scene work and an exploration of the audition process. The actor works on new sides (scenes) each week, with the emphasis on crafting an authentic performance for the camera. This six-week class culminates in a simulated audition. Includes discussion on the business of acting and related topics.
Schedule: Saturdays 10:00am-1:30pm|6 weeks

It’s a long and challenging process, difficult to remember everything I’ve talked about and shared in class over the last 25 years. So I’m looking for previous students who took extensive/ relevant notes and quotes in my classes and are comfortable sharing the information I imparted to them. Such mixed feelings as we say a sad goodbye to Kirsten Garcia and joyfully welcome back Sally Cinnamon as our Studio Coordinator.
Much love and gratitude for Kirsten and the amazing job she did filling in over the last year. Kirsten took on the role with short notice and has been a dedicated, loyal and invaluable member of our Rogues’ family. While she will be sadly missed, she will always be family and an integral part of the Studio. We wish her only the best of everything ...on her journey ahead. Big big thanks! From Joe-Norman Shaw Summer vacation for me has begun! That means no more classes for me till September. Time for a brain break. I’m lucky i love what i do, but summer is an important time to replenish so i can come back in the fall recharged. This last week of classes at The Studio has been amazing with such great work- every class a pleasure! It’s been another incredible year of passion and artistry! I am, we are, so blessed to share this creative path together. Thanks to a...ll the Rogues out there who made this year soar!

From Joe-Norman Shaw I’ve always thought of my role as an actor and director as that of an artist. A sacred calling with meaning and purpose to creatively express the depth and breadth of the human experience in artistic form. I believe this is the essence of Stanislavsky’s message in “An Actor Prepares”. Interestingly (and perhaps indirectly) it became the focus of my three film classes this week with marvelous discussions about the actor’s creative process in all it’s permutations. It’s been such a great pleasure to plumb the depths of our mysterious process with such curious, passionate and dedicated actors. Inspirational and exciting for me. I’ve loved these classes. Let’s keep it rolling. Thanks all for an awesome week!
