Introduction
Roma Catering is the creation of the entrepreneurial spirit of a young Italian immigrant named Romano Cecchetto back in 1969. As a new resident of Calgary Romano was forced by circumstance to work in the construction industry but his true passion was food. He recognized a void in the Calgary community, the need for an authentic, high quality Italian caterer. He began catering weekend functions with the help of his wife Antonietta. Delicious food speaks for itself and Roma was soon the caterer of choice in the Italian and non-Italian community. From these humble beginnings and based solely on word of mouth and the hard work of the Cecchetto family Roma catering has grown into a modern, multifaceted catering company.
With decades of knowledge under our belt we understand the high demands and the importance of consistency in the food and beverage industry. Delivering quality requires passion and experience. These two traits are an inherent part of Roma catering and have been key factors in our success in the broader Calgary community.
Current Business Ventures
Roma Catering is currently leveraging its expertise and experience in the following business ventures and partnerships:
Calgary Italian Club (1975-present)
Roma has catered to weddings at the Italian club for over 40 years. In 2007 we were presented with the opportunity to begin a new phase in this relationship as the exclusive provider of food and beverage services at this unique and vibrant venue in the heart of Calgary. The presence of Roma Catering combined with close proximity to downtown also make the Italian club an excellent choice for smaller meetings and team building events for the corporate community. As part of the contract at the Italian Club we are also responsible for running the Cantina Restaurant. At the Cantina we offer an authentic Italian menu, which combines excellent taste and quality with extremely good value.
Metropolitan Conference Centre (1998-Present)
From 1998 to 2003 Roma had a successful partnership catering to weekend events such as weddings at the Metropolitan Centre. The Metropolitan experienced several unsuccessful catering partners and soon approached Roma Catering to assume the exclusive catering contract at this venue. During the past 11 years this relationship has flourished and the Metropolitan centre is known in the corporate community as a first rate conference centre offering top quality food and beverage service provided by Roma catering.
Calgary Beth Tzedec Synagogue (2003-Present)
Roma catering is now one of the top preferred caterers in the Calgary Jewish community offering Calgary kosher cuisine (CK). This relationship has been cemented by our partnership with the Calgary Beth Tzedec Synagogue. The most noted event here is the Annual Gentlemen’s Dinner of up to 700 discerning guests, which regularly include the Premier of Alberta, MLA’s and the mayor of Calgary.
Roma Head office /Commissary kitchen and Deli (Opened 2014)
6000 + sq. ft. kitchen and deli opened to the public in May of this year. It has been an amazing success and has enabled Roma catering to expand on and improve quality and service to our offsite and delivery departments.
Corporate Catering
In addition to all onsite catering, we also provide gourmet catering delivered to almost any venue in the Calgary region. Menus include many options ranging from hot breakfasts and luncheons to lasagna and hors’ d’oeuvres. Roma has built a reputation for taste and quality in the corporate community. We cater regularly to over 500 businesses in Calgary. Some of our top clients include; Sanjel Corporation , Shaw pipe, Calfrac well services, EnCana, Talisman, Husky Oil, Bank of Montreal, Imperial Oil, , Scotia Bank, First Calgary, Conoco Philips, Calgary Board of Education, British Petroleum (BP), Suncor, TD Canada Trust, Pengrowth, Alberta provincial court judges, Calgary police service as well as many others.
Shaw Pipe (1997-Present)
Since 1997, Shaw pipe has ordered a daily lunch from Roma catering ranging from 30-55ppl Monday to Friday. Roma has catered over 4500 + lunches for Shaw and we have built a lasting relationship over the last 18 years through our constant overview of quality and service and an understanding of the corporate catering market.
