Rosewood Animal Wellness Services is owned and operated by Dr. Charlotte MacFarlane. Our primary goal is to offer integrative and alternative therapies for animals, with the ultimate benefit of improving animal’s lives and increasing awareness of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM).

Dr. Charlotte graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2011 and moved to Alberta shortly after to work at a mixed animal practice, working with dogs, cats, horses, and cattle.

In 2015, she decided to pursue her passion for integrative medicine, beginning with acupuncture training from the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine in Reddick, Florida.

While not turning her back on Western Medicine, Dr. Charlotte believes many conditions would be better treated with integrative therapy, combining the best from the East and the West. TCVM looks at each patient individually and is able to tailor therapy precisely to the patient, taking into account disease process, clinical signs, activity level, diet, and individual personality when selecting treatments. She also believes that TCVM is able to fill in a lot of the gaps that remain in Western medicine, able to provide diagnosis and treatment for conditions that may seem too trivial or impossible to treat with Western medicine.

In her spare time, Charlotte is an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hiking, rock climbing and backcountry camping in the summer, and snowboarding and cross-country skiing in the winter. Charlotte also competes regularly with her horse, Major Tom, in local Dressage and Eventing competitions. At home, she loves to cuddle up with her two cats, Maurice and Lily, border collie, Kiwi, and husband, Avery.
