MURAL SNEAK PEEK! We have been keeping a very special project under wraps - when y’all come visit the Royal Bison this weekend you’ll be peeping some amazing murals on the lawn by @elceebee, a wood burned number from @therealborys, art-life from @heyemilychu and a very special skatepark (duh) from @hamburgerhands - the big reveal will be for everyone to see on the lawn this Friday but we couldn’t resist sharing these process shots all the artists shared with us! A HUGE thanks to @cityofedmonton/Capital City Cleanup for funding and supporting this project - after the weekend, the pieces will be installed on buildings around @oldstrathcona for everyone to enjoy all year round! 5 DAYS TO BISON! Kyle Schneider (aka @hamburgerhands) likes to draw lowbrow gross/cute imagery and mash it all together with a bunch of silly puns and bright-coral colour combos. Hambz tells us “I just like to draw, man! I’ve been a fan of comics/cartoons since before I can remember and I’ve just found myself drawing everything, all the time. 9 DAYS TO BISON! Kalika Bowlby (@kalikabowlby) ceramic artist and designer, makes pots for every day, for simple meals and grand feasts, morning coffee or tea with friends. Her handmade contemporary ceramics have a focus on simplicity and functionality and Edmonton loves them a LOT! She says “I make objects to slow us down in a busy world. They are objects that invite us to set the table, take time to prepare and share a meal, reminders that eating and drinking can nourish us on many levels, objects to help us celebrate the simple, beautiful moments of every day.” Kailka is bringing a new line of white minimalist tableware and they are amazing. NEW VENDOR ALERT! Explore the real life alchemy of Strathcona Spirits! @strathconaspirits is Edmonton’s first distillery (really!!). Small batch, award winning spirits made using traditional methods & local ingredients in a tiny boomtown building in Old Strathcona. They will have a sampling of all of their spirits available at the Bison and that in itself is reason to celebrate, no?
