Russian Speaking Student Association, University Of Calgary Description

The club mandate’s shall be to connect with each other, and if possible, with their Russian heritage and language: Russian students, Russian speaking students and those interested in Russian culture /language by introducing a friendly environment and an engaging atmosphere through cultural-themed social events, possibly with other Russian /Slavic organizations within and outside the U of C, with the goal of bringing the Russian and Russian speaking student community at U of C and in the City of Calgary closer together. Introducing Russians and Russian speakers to each other will open new doors to opportunities and a shared sense of culture, all within a distinctly Canadian context at the University of Calgary. To immerse members in Russian language, culture and society, as well as educate about and participate in aspects of Russian culture (language, history, the arts, sports, etc. ) with a forum for discussion and socializing. To assist international students and new university students with their transition into university life, those learning Russian with the very beneficial aspect of socialization, and to grant current students more opportunities to participate in university, Calgary, Canada, and Russian cultural aspects with the aim of creating a strong sense of Russian and Canadian identity and to promote Russian language learning and communicating to gain a cultural insight, gain an edge in the international workplace, or just simply to broaden horizons.
