To all of our members that are parents or guardians, check out the pilot program YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) has launched.
The program provides a list of $25/day daycares across Alberta, many of which are in Calgary.

SAITSA is going to be kick starting a Textbook Broke campaign next week. Tanya, your VP Academic is still looking for more volunteers to help out with the campaign, so if you can spare a few hours that would be great!
If you haven’t purchased any or all your textbooks make sure you stop by the open educational resource (OER) selfie area in the Atrium from 10am-12pm and/or 1pm-2pm from September 10-14. The reason we are doing this is to help create more awareness about what SA...IT students have to pay for their textbooks. We want students who take their photo to hold up a whiteboard saying “I just spent X amount of dollars on my textbooks” #TextbookBroke @sait.sa via Instagram.
So, if you are a student who feels textbook costs are a little too expensive and want to support/learn about a traditional textbook alternative that is less expensive and more accessible. Visit us in the Atrium next week!

Did you know: SAITSA is a member of the Canadian Alliance of Students Associations (CASA). Throughout the year, your President and VP External meet with other student leaders from across Canada and work together to determine federal priorities to improve your post-secondary experience.
This year one of those priorities was international students.
Check out CASA’s new paper to learn about the contributions that international students make to Canada and the supports they need to succeed!

Interested in the idea of a cheaper and more accessible alternative to traditional textbooks? Open educational resources are your answer! These materials come with an open licence and can be purchased at a significantly reduced price or no cost at all.
Your SAITSA VP Academic, Tanya, is looking for a volunteer group to help run a #TextbookBroke campaign on campus.
If this interests you, get involved in encouraging and promoting open education resources in SAIT classrooms. Th...is campaign will provide awareness and educate students, while gaining support from faculty. So, let's try and avoid acting as a freshman who buys textbooks within the first week 😉
Visit saitsa.com/volunteer to get involved.

We just switched your insurance to a FLEXible benefits plan.
This means that you have four options for coverage so you can choose the one that suits you best!
The first option is to stay on the balanced plan which is what everyone is automatically opted into. The other choices are: Vision and paramed, Drugs and paramed or Dental plans.
... If you wish to switch your plan, you will need to do this online before the opt out deadline.
Still confused? Send us a message, visit the benefits office in NN117 or go to https://www.mystudentplan.ca/sait/en/mybe nefits for more information.
