Always a pleasant experience going to Sakana! Robert and April are two of the friendliest and most attentive servers anyone could ask for. They are always happy to greet and see new customers and they really bust a move to get things flowing in the restaurant. Service is one of the best reasons why we come back so often.

Happy Hour specials are definitely worth the value. The baked oysters are above any other sushi restaurant we've been to in town. Definitely recommend the soft shell crab and their steak teriyaki dinners are tasty. If you prefer cooked food, go for the Love Boat special as it has mostly cooked items. The Love Boat has more sushi and sashimi items. Their tempura is delicious too so try that if you have a chance.

Oh I have to mention they have a candy bar that you can delve in to at the end of your meal (or before/during)

The drink specials are great and the food is generally good. Great place to get a late night or afternoon drink (during happy hour). There is parking, but the location is great because it's close to a bunch of bus stops and the train station.

Got a chance to visit this restaurant during happy hour. It's a nice spot located in China Town with free parking.

The service was good and the food came out quick. We got the Love Boat which was on special for 27$.

The happy hour prices are fantastic and the food was good. You do not come here for gourmet sushi but the sashimi was good and tasted fresh.

I would not take a die hard sushi enthusiast here but I will definitely be back for their happy hour.

This place was fantastic. The server was the best server I've had in years. His name was Corn. It was cozy, friendly and the food was to die for. The sake was tasting good and happy hour specials are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a delicious but quiet Japanese food place.

Really great food! I love the baked oysters! They're so good. We usually get the love boat and baked oysters on their happy hour times. Good quality and good price. Robert is one of the best servers. My boyfriend and I come in quite often and Robert is usually working. He's very friendly, welcoming and always ensuring we are doing ok! Thanks Robert!

Poor customer service, and really dirty. The ceiling vents are covered in some black caked on dirt, the floors have a really weird yellow color, and the seats in the booths have no cushioning left. They'll bring you half your order, and blame you for not being clear on what you wanted. The sushi rolls they bring out are already half falling apart so that's another thing to deal with. And dont expect to get any service, everyone seems to hide in the back and fight over who has to go help customers.
Just don't waste your time and money here, if you really want sakana grill's sushi, just go to the crowfoot location. It's cleaner, brighter, comfortable, and there's actually people working here.

All I can say: the downtown location is a total disappointment... We went there last Sunday. Ordered beef tataki which had a very off flavour and the love boat deluxe, which supposed to come with soup and salad, well we didn't receive either. They didn't even gave us wasabi or ginger for the sushi. One of the previous reviewers said that they got salmonella after eating there, well I'm not surprised, the floor looked like it wasn't cleaned in weeks, not to mention the amount of old food and dirt under our table.Servers had an attitude, we received absolutely no welcome at the entrance, not a single 'thank you' or even a smile from them... I'd totally understand that if it was very busy, but apart from us there was only one more table occupied. There is no comparison to the Crowfoot location, where you always receive an amazing service, wonderful food, the place is clean and servers are lovely! I really wanted to love the Downtown location as it's located closer to us than the Crowfoot one; however after our experience this was our first and last visit there...

Downtown Sakana Grill provides some fantastic sushi options at a fair price. This is one of my usual go-to restaurants for a business lunch, or just a casual lunch with co-workers. The restaurant is clean, well laid out, and has a lot of Japanese character.

All this and they have a candy bar to satisfy your sweet tooth after you're done with some of their excellent sushi and other dishes.

Went there for their Happy Hour, and got a love boat to share with my friends. The food itself was awesome! The sashimi was fresh as well. Really like the environment of the restaurant. Will definitely come back!
