Sandstone Energy

Sandstone Energy is a division of Utility Network and Partners Inc. and offers competitive rates for electricity, natural gas and green energy in Alberta. 100% of Sandstone's net income is donated to the Calgary Public Library Foundation.

As a locally owned and operated business in Calgary, the Sandstone Energy name was inspired by Calgary's unique history. In 1886 Calgary looked like most western towns, with a series of wood frame houses, but this changed after the great fire of 1886.

Fire fighters did their best, but a large portion of town burned down in spite of them. Those who built after the great fire began using materials more fire-proof than wood, this material was Sandstone. The yellow stone was not only practical, it was attractive and Calgary became known as "The Sandstone City".

Although the city has changed dramatically, Calgary's history is still deep rooted in the city. Sandstone Energy was born in Calgary and is dedicated to the local community and the residents within it.

In 2017 Sandstone Energy partnered with the Calgary Public Library Foundation to help enable the citizens of Calgary to have the best public library in the world. The Library Foundation was created in 1999 to provide an opportunity for individuals, businesses and foundations to participate in building a library system for today and future generations. Sandstone is happy to support the library system by directing 100% of all revenues back into the library's core initiatives.
