Sears Department Store (Permanently Closed)

This store will be closing permanently Spring 2017, but it feels like its been closing slowly for the last 20 years. Service quality has gone steadily down, quality products that you used to look to Sears for, are no longer sold here, and the Catalog store has been relegated to a kiosk shoved in the back of the store, which never notifies you when orders have arrived. Pretty sad that Sears got to the state its currently in.

Sears never answers the phone. They do not have enough staff. Their website is antiquated. The stock online doesn't match the stores and there is no way to check if a product is available at the store without going there. For those unable to easily go to a store, this can mean a wasted trip - time and money. This creates frustration and a lack of desire to continue shopping with this chain. Too bad. Sears used to be one of the best!

There appears to be only one service desk nearby the mall entrance. I felt a little odd walking through the entire store which is massive, with my stuff. When I got to the till, only 2 cashiers there, with 1 customer each, each with one or two items. I couldn't imagine why it took them 5 minutes to ring them up on their antiquated software. Other than that I didn't see any staff in the entire store and about as many customers. I don't think they even have any electronics anymore. The girls at the till said they don't sell alarm clocks. Really?? I couldn't help but think that I could do a better job managing this place to make it more customer-centric in order to generate a few sales. Since it is near Christmas time, I can't help but think this will be the next giant that goes down.

Excellent deals but short of staff hence poor customer service.

The worst staff and management who make an advantage from Fort McMurray people whos their houses were affected and bought their appliances from this store after evacuation . We bought our 9 major appliances from this store. Rashid was the associate at that time which was the only good person. Unfortunately he left and there was a nightmare after that. Dryer and microwave were faulty, and they sent us the 2015 model stove. At the time We bought our appliances, 2015 stove was on clearance for a very cheap price. I paid full amount and Rashid told us that whole appliances will be 2016 especially stove.
Since we recieved the items I gave a call everyday few times but no one answer the phone. Finally we drove 850 km to Calgary and I told Farzana the other associate. She promised us to exchange them as it was only 2 weeks after delivery. After we came back to Fort McMurray no one pick up the phone in major appliances department and Mathew, ext 404 doesn't answer the phone. I sent lots of sms to Farzana and she has not answered. The worst experience and most untrusting people. Our expectation is that management follow up this matter.
