Originally part of Modern Decore, sisters Sharon Hay and Daryl Smith began operating as Sheer Illusions to specialize exclusively in Window Coverings leaving Modern Decore to focus on flooring.

Jenny Gillespie took over the ownership of Sheer Illusions in 2007 and although Sharon has moved on to other endeavours her sister Daryl still works for the company. Peter Thiessen has been working as an installer and salesperson since early 2008.

Sheer Illusions main suppliers since 1992 are Levolor and Elite.
