This place has so much going for it. Best bread in Calgary. I'm never disappointed with anything on their menu, and many items change based on what's in season so there's always great variety. For what you get (high quality ingredients and expert preparation), I find it a great value as well. Finally, you can't beat the atmosphere and location of their East Village location.

Great place to stop during a stroll along the Bow. That being said, it can get BUSY. It's a bit confusing where to order, pick up coffee and then eat which makes the experience slightly chaotic. The food for me has been really hit and miss. I generally have their soups and sometimes I'm not entirely sure what I'm eating and most of the time they are out of an item or two on the menu. The service has always been great on the bakery side though (not as much on the coffee side, which is actually done by Phil & Sebastian, hence the confusion!). Underwhelmed.

The best Calgary bakery, that I have found. Bread is excellent, dense and moist crumb. Pastries are also very good. Building interior beautiful. Coffee excellent, although expensive. Worth a drive to visit!

Food is amazing! This place is always always packed. The lines are long, and service at times slow, but it's worth it. I wish they had more seating. Definitely must visit if you're in the area

Great and very eclectic vibe as soon as I walked in this place. Everything looked super appetizing and the food was truly delicious.
I had the egg in a croissant sandwich, which was divine. The cheese pastry was also very very good. Also highly recommend the almond croissant. Very tasty, and you'll definitely go for seconds.
They even have a Phil and Sebastian built right in, so you can enjoy a nice coffee with your meal.

The food here is amazing but their line-up is frustrating and inefficient. We arrived at 11:40am hoping for breakfast, waited in line for 21 minutes, and they refused to serve breakfast which ends at noon! First, we were there way before noon so we should have been able to order breakfast! Second, why on earth do they stop breakfast at noon on weekends??? It was very frustrating.

Part of the problem is inefficient service. They have one line up for food whether you want a pastry or a full breakfast. So people who just want a quick pastry have to wait 20 minutes. Why not have a separate pastry line?

I went here for the first time today and got a ham sandwich...which was probably the best sandwich I've had in a while. It had greens, mushrooms, avocado, cheese, and an aioli. It was so popular that it had already sold out by noon, but they were making more, so my husband and I each snagged one. We got a cauliflower, mushroom, and red cabbage salad, some drinks from the 'fridge, too. I wanted a sticky brioche bun because they looked so good, as did all of the other baked goods, but I'll save it for next time.

I was really impressed by this place. A friend of mine recommended it and I was pretty impressed. The baked goods are delicious, some on the more pricey side, but the main dishes are great and filling. I discovered new simple flavor combinations. Would definitely recommend for brunch

I have gotten baked goods from Sidewalk Citizen numerous times and grabbed lunch here twice. If you are popping in to grab something from their baked items, it's fantastic. But lunch has been disappointing both times. The first, our order was given away to someone else, what we had ordered was no longer available, and our replacement took a very long time to come, as it was made after other orders in the line up. The manager very kindly dealt with the situation afterwards, but the customer service during was very disappointing. And the second attempt at lunch was disappointing for a similar reason. When notified of a severe allergy in the party, we were asked if it was a matter of cross contamination because "they are using a lot of dishes back there." That's the only time I've heard a restaurant respond in that way to an allergy. Go and grab some baked goods, but maybe skip the lunch.
