Silver Dragon Restaurant

We love going to the Silver Dragon for dim sum lunches. They offer many dishes on trays that frequently pass by, but you can also order many more items directly from your server. It is a lovely restaurant with very attentive staff. There is no elevator, however, and you must climb to the second floor, so it's difficult to bring a stroller. Reservations recommended but not required.

Excellent dim sum. Growing up, dim sum has always been a thing that my family does on the weekends, therefore I always thought that dim sum was ONLY available on the weekends. I was wrong. Silver Dragon offers dim sum on weekdays too (to cater to the nearby office crowd). They come around wheeling the food on carts to all the tables so you can pick what you want and get served immediately. The quality is excellent and the staff are very accommodating.

There's a reason why there's so few Chinese people in this popular Chinatown restaurant: the food is horrible. From the fried shrimp dumplings to pork ribs to BBQ pork buns with the toughest meat. Everything tastes like food court food with the exception of the congee. Silver Dragon is no longer that awesome dim sum place it once was, even though it's one of the few restaurants left that do push around traditional carts. Food aside, the service was very good.

There is a big difference to be made clear with this restaurant, if you come here on a Sunday morning you will experience the best dim sum in Calgary. If you come for supper you are on your own because I've eaten here at least once a month for 6 years and never bothered trying supper.

They are by far the best dim sum in the city and I regularly leave stuffed and satisfied for around $15 per person.

Food was good but overpriced for Chinese food. Not noticeably better than any other Chinese restaurant. The service was decent. We had a nice male waiter that was very helpful but who kept getting his role taken by another male waiter (he took our order and bill even though the first waiter went to get the machine). The second male waiter (I believe his name is Edward) was very unhelpful, rude, and unprofessional. He acted like we were a bothering him by being customers and kept looking at his watch. While paying for the bill he was telling me to press yes for tip and what percent. He seemed to assume that we wouldn't tip (which was not the case). Regardless, you should NEVER look at what your customer is tipping, tell them to tip or what to tip for that matter. Would not recommend this place based on the customer service and over priced food.

We love the food here. Kid-friendly and lots of room. Dim sum is great.

We go there maybe once or twice a year for a special treat. The Sunday morning brunch is great and its cheaper than any other breakfast restaurant. They have such a great assortment of dim sums and other small dishes. Servers are going table to table with their cart so you can choose your small dishes.

Quality of food are stable and steady for the last 40 some years. When you want a decent meal, you can always count on them.

Some of the best dim sum I've ever had. The ginger beef is worth waiting for, it does not come around often on the dim sum carts.
